Lamentations 3

Studie

1 א I am the mighty··man that has seen affliction by the scepter of His wrath.

2 א He has directed me, and walked me into darkness, but not into light.

3 א Surely against me is He turned··back; He turns His hand against me all the day.

4 ב He wore··down My flesh and my skin; He has broken my bones.

5 ב He has built against me, and encircled me with gall and weariness.

6 ב He has made me sit in darkness, as those who are dead to eternity.

7 ג He has fenced··in behind me and I go· not ·out. He has made· my bronze chains ·heavy.

8 ג Also when I cry and cry··out, He blocks out my prayer.

9 ג He has fenced··in my ways with hewn stone, He has turned· my trails ·upside··down.

10 ד He was unto me as a bear setting··an··ambush, and as a lion in hiding places.

11 ד He has turned··aside my ways, and pulled· me ·in··pieces; He has made me desolate.

12 ד He has bent His bow, and set· me ·up as a target for the arrow.

13 ה He has caused the sons of His quiver to come into my kidneys.

14 ה I was laughed··at by all my people; and by their music* all the day.

15 ה He has satiated me with bitternesses, He has soaked me with wormwood.

16 ו And He has ground··down my teeth with gravel, He has strewn me with ashes.

17 ו And Thou hast cast··off my soul from peace; I forgot goodness.

18 ו And I said, My victory has perished, and my hope from Jehovah:

19 ז remember my affliction and my being··dominated, for the wormwood and the gall.

20 ז Remembering my soul remembers, and is bowed··down within me.

21 ז This I return to my heart, therefore I have··hope.

22 ח It is of the mercies of Jehovah that we are not entirely consumed, for His compassions are not all··consumed.

23 ח They are new in the mornings; great is Thy faithfulness.

24 ח Jehovah is my part, says my soul; therefore will I hope in Him.

25 ט Jehovah is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul that inquires after Him.

26 ט It is good that a man should both hope and be still for the salvation of Jehovah.

27 ט It is good for a mighty··man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

28 י He sits alone and is··still, because He has carried it upon him.

29 י He puts his mouth in the dust; if so be there··is hope.

30 י He gives his jaw to him who smites him; he is satisfied with reproach.

31 כ For the Lord will not cast··off for eternity:

32 כ but though He makes··sorrowful, yet will He have··compassion according··to the multitude of His mercies.

33 כ For He does not afflict from His heart nor make· the sons of men ·sorrowful.

34 ל To crush under His feet all the bound ones of the earth,

35 ל to turn aside the judgment of a man before the face of the Most··High,

36 ל to subvert man in his strife, the Lord provides* not.

37 מ Who is this that says, and it comes··to··pass, if the Lord commands not?

38 מ Does not evil and good go··forth out··of the mouth of the Most··High?

39 מ What does a living man murmur about, a man over his sins?

40 נ Let us search our ways and search· them ·out, and turn··back to Jehovah.

41 נ Let us lift··up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

42 נ We have transgressed and have rebelled; Thou hast not pardoned.

43 ס Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us; Thou hast killed, Thou hast not pitied.

44 ס Thou hast covered Thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass··through.

45 ס Thou hast set us as as scraped and rejected among the people.

46 פ All our enemies have gaped with their mouths against us.

47 פ Dread and a chasm is upon us, the vastation and the breaking.

48 פ streams of waters go··down my eye on··account··of the breaking of the daughter of my people.

49 ע My eye flows··down, and is· not ·still, without failing,

50 ע until Jehovah look··down and see from the heavens.

51 ע My eye acts on my soul more than all the daughters of my city.

52 צ My enemies without··cause hunting did hunt me as a bird,

53 צ They have cut··away my life in the pit, and cast··down a stone on me.

54 צ Waters flowed··over on my head; then I said, I am severed.

55 ק I called··upon Thy name, O Jehovah, out··of the lower pit.

56 ק Thou hast heard my voice; hide not Thine ear to my respiration, to my outcry.

57 ק Thou camest··near in the day that I called··upon Thee; Thou didst say, Fear not.

58 ר O Lord, Thou hast pleaded the pleas of my soul; Thou hast redeemed my life.

59 ר O Jehovah, Thou hast seen my wrong; judge Thou my cause*.

60 ר Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their thoughts against me.

61 ש Thou hast heard their reproach, O Jehovah, and all their thoughts against me;

62 ש the lips of those that rose··up, and their meditation against me all the day.

63 ש Look··on their sitting and their rising··up; I am their music*.

64 ת Return to them a recompense, O Jehovah, according··to the deed of their hands.

65 ת Give to them sorrow of heart, Thine oath unto them.

66 ת Persecute and blot· them ·out in anger from under the heavens of Jehovah.

Psalms 9

Studie

1 To the victor, on a muthlabben*; a psalm of David.
2 א I will confess Jehovah with all my heart;
I will number all Thy wonders.

2 3 I will be··glad and will triumph in Thee;
I will sing··psalms to Thy name, O Most··High.

3 4 ב When my enemies are returned backward,
they stumble and perish from Thy face.

4 5 For Thou hast done judgment for me and my cause;
Thou sattest on the throne, the Judge of justice.

5 6 ג Thou hast rebuked the nations, Thou hast made· the wicked ·perish,
Thou hast wiped··out their name to eternity and forever.

6 7 ה As to the enemy, wastings are finished perpetually;
and Thou hast plucked··up cities; the remembrance of them, even of them, has perished.

7 8 ו But Jehovah will sit to eternity;
He will prepare His throne for judgment.

8 9 ו And He will judge the world with justice;
He will make··judgment··for the peoples in uprightness.

9 10 ו And Jehovah will be a high··tower for the contrite,
a high··tower for times in adversity;

10 11 ו and those who know Thy name will trust in Thee;
for Thou hast not forsaken those who inquire··after Thee, O Jehovah.

11 12 ז Sing··psalms to Jehovah, who dwells in Zion;
tell among the peoples His actions.

12 13 For He who inquires··after bloods* remembers them;
He forgets not the cry of the afflicted.

13 14 ח Be··gracious··to me, O Jehovah; see my affliction from those who hate me,
Thou who liftest· me ·up from the gates of death;

14 15 so··that I may recount all Thy praises in the gates of the daughter of Zion;
I will rejoice in Thy salvation.

15 16 ט The nations are sunk in the ditch which they have made;
in this net which they concealed is their foot captured.

16 17 Jehovah is known, He has done judgment;
a wicked one shall be snared by the work of the palms of his hands. Higgaion*. Selah.

17 18 י The wicked ones shall be turned··back into hell,
all the nations who··forget God.

18 19 כ For the needy shall not perpetually be forgotten,
nor* shall the hope of the meek perish forever.

19 20 Arise, O Jehovah; let not man be··strong;
let the nations be judged before Thy face.

20 21 Put fear into them, O Jehovah;
let the nations know they are but man. Selah.
