Jonah 2

Studie

2 And Jonah prayed to Jehovah his God from the bowels of the fish,

3 and said, I called from my adversity to Jehovah, and He answered me; from the belly of hell I cried··out, and Thou didst hear my voice.

4 And Thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, and the river surrounded me; all Thy breakers and Thy waves passed over me.

5 And I said, I am driven··out from in··front··of Thine eyes; nevertheless I will look again toward the temple of Thy holiness.

6 The waters enclosed me, even··to the soul; the abyss surrounded me; the seaweed bound··up my head.

7 I went··down to the bottoms* of the mountains; the earth with her bars was over me for eternity; but Thou hast brought··up my life from the ditch, O Jehovah my God.

8 When my soul was··overwhelmed within me I remembered Jehovah; and my prayer came··in unto Thee, into the temple of Thy holiness.

9 They who keep fleeting vanities forsake their own mercy.

10 But I will sacrifice to Thee with the voice of confession; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah.

11 And Jehovah spoke to the fish, and it vomited··out Jonah to the dry land.
