Jeremiah 39

Studie

1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar* king of Babylon and all his host to Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth of the month, the city was breached*.

3 And all the princes of the king of Babylon came··in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergal-sharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer, Rabmag, and all who··were··left of the princes of the king of Babylon.

4 And it was, when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, that they ran··away, and went··out from the city by night, by the way of the garden of the king, by the gate between the two··walls; and he went··out the way of the plain.

5 But the host of the Chaldeans pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and they took him, and they brought· him ·up to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he spoke with him of their judgment.

6 And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes; and the king of Babylon slaughtered all the nobles of Judah.

7 And he blinded the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with two··bronze fetters to bring him to Babylon.

8 And the house of the king, and the houses of the people the Chaldeans burned··up with fire, and tore··down the walls of Jerusalem.

9 Then Nebuzaradan, the major of the guards, exiled into Babylon the remnant of the people who were left in the city, and those who fell, who fell to him, and the remnant of the people that were left.

10 But Nebuzaradan the major of the guards left the poor from the people, who had not anything, in the land of Judah, and gave to them vineyards and farms in that day.

11 And Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, commanded concerning Jeremiah by the hand of Nebuzaradan the major of the guards, saying,

12 Take him, and set thine eyes upon him, and do not anything evil to him; for as he shall speak to thee, do thus with him.

13 And Nebuzaradan the major of the guards sent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergal-sharezer, Rabmag, and all the majors of the king of Babylon;

14 and they sent, and took Jeremiah out··of the court of the prison, and gave him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, to bring· him ·out to the house; and he dwelt in the midst of the people.

15 And the word of Jehovah was unto Jeremiah, when he was restrained in the court of the prison, saying,

16 Go and say to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus says Jehovah of Armies, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring My words to this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

17 But I will rescue thee in that day, says Jehovah; and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whose face thou art afraid.

18 For I will cause thee escaping to escape, and by the sword thou shalt not fall; but for thee thy soul shall be for spoil, for thou hast trusted in Me, says Jehovah.

Eunuch

A eunuch (Isaiah 56:3, 5) denotes the natural man as to good, and the "son of the stranger" denotes the natural man as to truth.

In Matthew 19:12, this signifies people who are subjects of the celestial marriage.
