¹ And the word of Jehovah was unto^▵ Jeremiah^◦ a second time (and he^◦ was still restrained in the court of the prison^◦), saying,

² Thus says Jehovah her maker, Jehovah who formed her, to establish her, Jehovah is His name:

³ Call unto^▵ Me, and I will answer thee, and tell thee of great and fortified things; thou knowest them not.

⁴ For thus says Jehovah, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are torn·​·down by the embankments, and by the sword:

⁵ they are coming to fight the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them^* with^◦ human corpses, whom I have smitten in My anger and in My fury, and I have hidden My face from this city on·​·account·​·of all their evil.

⁶ Behold, I will cause health^◦ and healing to come·​·up to her, and I will heal them, and will reveal to them^◦ the crown of peace and truth.

⁷ And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

⁸ And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against^▵ Me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against^◦ Me.

⁹ And it shall be for Me for a name of joy, for praise and for adornment to all the nations of the earth, who shall hear all the goodness that I^▵ do for them; and they shall dread and tremble over all the goodness and over all the peace, which I^▵ will do for her.

¹⁰ Thus says Jehovah: Yet·​·again there shall be heard in this place, which you^◦ say is a waste without^▵ man and without^▵ beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolated, without^▵ man, and without^▵ those who dwell in her, and without^▵ beast,

¹¹ the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who shall say, Confess Jehovah of Armies; for Jehovah is good, for His mercy is for eternity; and of those who shall bring· the offering of thanksgiving ·into the house of Jehovah. For I will cause the captivity of the land to return, as at the first, says Jehovah.

¹² Thus says Jehovah of Armies: Still in this place, which is a waste without^▵ man and without beast, and in all its cities, shall be a home of shepherds causing their flocks to lie·​·down^◦.

¹³ In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass yet·​·again under the hands of him who counts them, says Jehovah.

¹⁴ Behold, the days come, says^◦ Jehovah, that I will raise·​·up that^◦ good thing which I have spoken to^▵ the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.

¹⁵ In those^◦ days, and at that^◦ time, I will cause the growing·​·Branch of justice to grow to David; and He shall do judgment and justice in the land.

¹⁶ In those^◦ days Judah shall be saved, and Jerusalem shall reside securely; and this is the name^* with which He shall be called: Jehovah-our-justice.

¹⁷ For thus says Jehovah: unto David there shall not be cut·​·off a man^◦ to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

¹⁸ and to the priests, the Levites, there shall not be cut·​·off a man^◦ from before Me offering·​·up a burnt·​·offering, and burning· a gift·​·offering ·for·​·incense, and making a sacrifice all the days.

¹⁹ And the word of Jehovah was unto^▵ Jeremiah^◦, saying,

²⁰ Thus says Jehovah: If you can make·​·of·​·none·​·effect My covenant of the day, and My covenant of the night, that there should not^▵ be day and night in their times;

²¹ then even My covenant will be made·​·of·​·none·​·effect: with^◦ David My servant, from his having^◦ a son to reign on his throne; and with^◦ the Levites the priests, from being My ministers.

²² As the army of the heavens cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the seed of David My servant, and the Levites who minister to Me.

²³ And the word of Jehovah was to^▵ Jeremiah^◦, saying,

²⁴ Seest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which Jehovah has chosen among^◦ them, He has even rejected them? And they have disdained My people, from being any·​·more a nation before them.

²⁵ Thus says Jehovah, If My covenant be not by·​·day and night, then I have not set the stated times of the heavens and the earth.

²⁶ even the seed of Jacob and David My servant I will reject, so that I will not^* take from his seed rulers for^◦ the seed of Abraham, Isaac^◦, and Jacob; for I will cause their captivity to return, and have·​·compassion on them.

¹ Woe to her who elevates herself^* and is polluted, to the city that exploits!

² She hearkened not to the voice; she received^◦ not discipline; she trusted not in Jehovah; she came· not ·near to^▵ her God.

³ Her princes among her are roaring lions; her judges are wolves of the evening; they fracture· not the ·bones^◦ for the morning.

⁴ Her prophets are fickle men^◦ of treachery; her priests have profaned the sanctuary; they have violated the law.

⁵ Jehovah is just, He is in the midst^◦ of her, He will not do perversity; in the morning, in the morning He gives His judgment to light; He will not be·​·absent; but the perverse one knows no^◦ shame.

⁶ I have cut·​·off the nations; their corners are desolate; I made their streets a waste so that none passes·​·through. Their cities are rendered·​·uninhabitable, so that there is no man^◦, neither any who dwell there.

⁷ I said, Surely thou wilt fear Me; thou wilt receive^◦ discipline; and their abode should not be cut·​·off, all that I appointed for^▵ them. Surely they got·​·up·​·early; they corrupted all their actions!

⁸ Therefore tarry ye for Me, says^◦ Jehovah, for the day that I rise·​·up to the prey^◦; for My judgment is to gather the nations, that I may bring·​·together the kingdoms, to spill·​·out upon them My indignation, even all My fierce anger; for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My zeal.

⁹ For then will I turn·​·over to^▵ the peoples a purified lip, that all of them may call on^◦ the name of Jehovah, to serve Him with one shoulder.

¹⁰ From across the rivers of Ethiopia, My supplicants, the daughter of My scattered, shall bring^◦ My gift·​·offering.

¹¹ In that^◦ day thou shalt not be·​·ashamed for all thine actions, in which^◦ thou hast transgressed against^◦ Me; for then I will remove from among thee those who are triumphant in thy pride, and thou shalt not yet again be·​·haughty in the mountain of My holiness.

¹² I will also leave in the midst^◦ of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall have·​·confidence in the name of Jehovah.

¹³ Those who·​·are·​·left of Israel shall not do perversity, nor speak lies; neither shall a tongue of deceit be found in their mouth; for they^◦ shall pasture and lie·​·down^◦, and none shall frighten them.

¹⁴ Sing·​·aloud, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be·​·glad and triumph with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

¹⁵ Jehovah has removed thy judgments; He has turned^◦ back thine enemy; the King of Israel, Jehovah, is in the midst^◦ of thee; thou shalt not see evil any more^◦.

¹⁶ In that^◦ day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not; Zion, let not thy hands be·​·slack.

¹⁷ Jehovah thy God in the midst^◦ of thee is mighty; He will save, He will have·​·joy over thee with gladness; He will be·​·silent in His love; He will rejoice over thee with singing·​·aloud.

¹⁸ I will gather the sorrowful from the congregation^◦, from thee they are a lifting·​·up of the reproach upon her.

¹⁹ Behold, I will deal with all that afflict thee at that^◦ time; and I will save her who limps, and bring·​·together her who was cast·​·out^◦; and I will make^▫ them a praise and a name in all the land where they have been put to shame.

²⁰ At that^◦ time I will bring you again, even in the time that I bring· you ·together; for I will give you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn·​·back your captivity before^▫ your eyes, says Jehovah.
