¹ And the word of Jehovah was unto^▵ me, saying,

² Thou shalt not take to thee a wife, neither shalt thou have^◦ sons or^◦ daughters in this place.

³ For thus says Jehovah concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers who gave·​·birth to them, and concerning their fathers who begot them in this land;

⁴ from the deaths of sicknesses they shall·​·die; they shall not be bewailed, and they shall not be buried; they shall be for manure on the face of the ground; and they shall all·​·be·​·consumed by the sword and by famine; and their carcasses shall be for food for the fowl of the heavens, and for the beasts of the earth.

⁵ For thus says Jehovah, Come· not ·into the house of the wake, and go not to wail, and be· not ·sorry for them; for I have gathered My peace from this people, says^◦ Jehovah, even the mercy and the compassions.

⁶ And the great and the small shall·​·die in this land; they shall not be buried, neither shall men wail for them^◦, nor gash themselves, nor make· themselves ·bald for them^◦:

⁷ neither shall they divide^◦ bread for them upon mourning, to comfort him for^▵ the dead; neither shall men give· them the cup of comforting ·to·​·drink^◦ over his father or over his mother.^*

⁸ And thou shalt not go·​·into the house of feasts, to sit with^◦ them to eat and to drink.

⁹ For thus says Jehovah of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease out·​·of this place before^▫ your eyes, and in your days, the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.

¹⁰ And it shall be, when^◦ thou shalt tell this people all these words, and they shall say unto^▵ thee, Why has Jehovah spoken all this great evil against us, or^◦ what is our iniquity, or^◦ what is our sin that we have sinned against^▵ Jehovah our God?

¹¹ And thou shalt say unto^▵ them, Because your fathers have forsaken Me, says^◦ Jehovah, and have walked^◦ after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken Me, and have not kept My law;

¹² and you^◦ have done more evil than your fathers; for, behold, you walk each·​·man^◦ after the stubbornness of his evil heart, to hearken not^▵ unto^▵ Me;

¹³ and I will throw you from off this land onto^◦ a land which you^◦ and your fathers know not; and there shall you serve other gods by·​·day and by night, where^▵ I will not give you grace.

¹⁴ Therefore, behold, the days come, says^◦ Jehovah, that it shall no^◦ more^◦ be said, Jehovah lives, who brought·​·up the sons of Israel out·​·of the land of Egypt;

¹⁵ but^◦, Jehovah lives, who brought·​·up the sons of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither He had compelled them; and I will return them onto^◦ their ground that I gave unto their fathers.

¹⁶ Behold, I will send for many fishers, says^◦ Jehovah, and they shall fish them; and after thus^◦ I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from on every mountain, and from on every hill, and from the crevices of the rocks^◦.

¹⁷ For My eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, neither is their iniquity kept·​·secret from in·​·front·​·of My eyes.

¹⁸ And first I will repay their iniquity and their sin double^◦; on·​·account·​·of their profaning My land; they have·​·filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable things.

¹⁹ O Jehovah, my strength, and my stronghold, and my place·​·to·​·flee in the day of adversity, the nations shall come to^▵ Thee from the ends^◦ of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited falsity, vanity^◦ and there is no profit in them.

²⁰ Shall man make gods unto himself, and they^◦ are no^◦ gods?

²¹ Therefore, behold, I will this time^◦ make· them ·to·​·know, I will make· them ·to·​·know My hand and My might; and they shall know that My name is Jehovah.

¹ The word that was to^▵ Jeremiah^◦ from Jehovah, saying,

² Thus says Jehovah God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto^▵ thee in^▵ a book.

³ For, behold, the days come, says^◦ Jehovah, that I will return the captivity of My people Israel and Judah, says Jehovah; and I will cause them to return to^▵ the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

⁴ And these are the words that Jehovah spoke concerning^▵ Israel and concerning^▵ Judah.

⁵ For thus says Jehovah: We have heard a voice of fright; there is dread, and no peace.

⁶ Ask ye now^◦, and see if a male gives·​·birth? Wherefore do I see every mighty·​·man with his hands on his hips^◦, as a woman giving·​·birth, and all the faces are turned into^◦ paleness^◦?

⁷ Woe! for that^◦ day is great, so that none is like^▵ it; it^◦ is even^▵ the time of the adversity for Jacob; but from it he shall be saved.

⁸ And it shall be in that^◦ day, says^◦ Jehovah of Armies, that I will break his yoke from upon thy neck, and will pull·​·off thy bonds, and strangers shall no^◦ more^◦ serve under him;

⁹ but they shall serve Jehovah their God, and David their king, whom I will raise·​·up unto them^◦.

¹⁰ Therefore fear thou^◦ not, O My servant Jacob, says^◦ Jehovah; neither be·​·dismayed, O Israel; for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be·​·quiet, and be·​·at·​·ease, and none shall frighten him.

¹¹ For I^◦ am with^◦ thee, says^◦ Jehovah, to save thee; though^◦ I make a complete end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a complete end of thee; but I will reprove thee in measure, and making innocent I will not make thee innocent.

¹² For thus says Jehovah, Thy break is desperate, thy smiting is·​·sick.

¹³ There is none who make·​·the·​·cause for thy cause for a compress; the healings bring· thee not^◦ ·up.

¹⁴ All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they inquire not after thee; for I have smitten thee with the smiting of an enemy, with cruel chastisement, on·​·account·​·of the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were·​·numerous.

¹⁵ What dost thou cry for^▵ thy breaking? Thy pain is desperate for^▵ the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were·​·numerous, I have done these to thee.

¹⁶ Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they who pillage thee shall be for pillaging, and all who plunder thee will I give for plunder.

¹⁷ For I will restore^* thy health^◦, and I will heal thee of thy blows^◦, says^◦ Jehovah; for they called thee an outcast^◦, saying, She^◦ is Zion; no·​·one inquires·​·after her.

¹⁸ Thus says Jehovah; Behold, I will return the captivity of the tents of Jacob, and have·​·compassion·​·on his habitations; and the city shall be built upon her own mound, and the palace shall be·​·situated according to its own manner^◦*.

¹⁹ And confession shall go·​·out from them^◦, and the voice of those who play; and I will multiply them, and they shall not be·​·few; and I will also glorify them, and they shall not be·​·little.

²⁰ And his sons shall be as in ancient times, and his congregation shall be established before Me, and I will visit all who press·​·against him.

²¹ And his magnificent one shall be from him, and his ruler shall go·​·out from the midst^◦ of him; and I will cause him to come·​·near, and he shall approach Me; for who is he^◦, this one who makes· his heart ·surety to approach Me? says^◦ Jehovah.

²² And you shall be My people, and I^▵ will be your God.

²³ Behold, the whirlwind of Jehovah goes·​·forth with fury, a sawing whirlwind; it shall travail upon the head of the wicked.

²⁴ The fierce anger of Jehovah shall not turn·​·back, until He shall have done it, and until He shall have raised·​·up the purpose of His heart; in the latter days you shall understand it.
