1
And in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, the word of Jehovah was to▵ me, saying,

Son of man, write thee the name of the day, this same day; the king of Babylon laid◦ siege against▵ Jerusalem this same day.

And enunciate an enunciation to▵ the rebellious house, and say unto▵ them, Thus says the Lord Jehovih*: Set··on a pot, set· it ·on, and also pour water into it;
4
gather its sections into▵ it, even every good section, the thigh and the shoulder◦; fill it with the choice bones.
5
Take the choice of the flock, and also the fire··ring of the bones under it; seethe it with a seething, also let them cook the bones of it in her midst.
6
Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovih: Woe to the city of bloods*, to the pot whose froth is in it, and whose froth is not gone··out of it! Bring· it ·out section by section; let not a lot fall upon it.
7
For her blood is in her midst; she set it upon a parched◦ rock◦; she shed it not upon the land, to cover it over with dust.
8
To bring··up fury, to avenge with vengeance, I have put◦ her blood upon a parched◦ rock◦, so··that▵ it should not▵ be covered.
9
Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovih: Woe to the city of bloods! I◦ will even make· the pyre ·great.
10
Multiply the wood, inflame with the fire, entirely consume the flesh, and make··an··ointment of ointment, and let the bones be set··ablaze.
11
And let it stand empty upon its coals, so··that the bronze of it may be··hot, and may blaze, and that the uncleanness of it may be fused in its midst, that the froth of it may be entirely consumed.
12
She has wearied herself with lies, and her much froth went· not ·out from her; her froth shall be in the fire.
13
In thine uncleanness is crime; because I have cleansed thee, and thou wast not cleansed, thou shalt not be cleansed from thine uncleanness any··more, until I have caused My fury to rest on◦ thee.
14
I◦, Jehovah, have spoken; it shall come, and I will do it; I will not be made··lax, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according··to thy ways, and according··to thine actions, shall they judge thee, says◦ the Lord Jehovih.

And the word of Jehovah was unto▵ me, saying,

Son of man, behold, I take from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke; yet neither shalt thou wail, neither shalt thou weep, neither shall thy tears come.
17
Still the groaning◦, make not mourning for the dead, bind··up thy headdress on thee, and set thy shoes on thy feet, and cloak not over the upper··lip, and eat not the bread of men◦.
18
And I spoke to▵ the people in the morning; and at evening my wife died; and I did in the morning as◦ I was commanded.
19
And the people said to▵ me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou◦ doest so?
20
And I said to▵ them, The word of Jehovah was to▵ me, saying,

Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Jehovih; Behold, I◦ will profane My sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pities; and your sons and your daughters whom you have forsaken shall fall by the sword.
22
And you shall do as◦ I have done; over the upper··lip you shall not cloak, and the bread of men◦ you shall not eat.
23
And your headdresses shall be on your heads, and your shoes on◦ your feet; you shall not wail nor weep, but you shall waste··away in your iniquities, and growl a man◦ toward▵ his brother.
24
And Ezekiel is for you a portent*; according··to all that he has done shall you do: and when this comes, you shall know that I◦ am the Lord Jehovih.
25
And thou◦, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them◦ their strength, the joy of their splendor, the desire of their eyes, and that on which they set their souls, their sons and their daughters,
26
That he who escapes◦ in that◦ day shall come to▵ thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
27
In that◦ day shall thy mouth be opened to him who is escaped◦, and thou shalt speak, and be··dumb no◦ more◦; and thou shalt be a portent to them; and they shall know that I◦ am Jehovah.
