Exodus 35

Studie

And Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and said to them, These are the words which Jehovah has commanded, to do them.

Six days shall work* be done, but on the seventh day it shall be for you holiness, a Sabbath of a Sabbath to Jehovah; everyone doing work in it shall die.

You shall not burn a fire in all your dwellings on the day of the Sabbath.

And Moses said to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, This is the word which Jehovah commanded, saying,

Take ye from among you an uplifting to Jehovah; everyone that is freely··willing in his heart shall bring it, an uplifting of Jehovah; gold, and silver, and bronze;

and blue, and crimson, and scarlet twice-dyed, and fine··linen, and goatswool;

and skins of red rams, and skins of badgers, and shittim* wood;

and oil for the light, and spices for the oil of anointing, and for the fragrant incense;

and onyx stones, and stones for filling, for the ephod, and for the breastplate.

And let everyone that is wise in heart among you come, and make all things that Jehovah has commanded;

the Habitation, its Tabernacle, and its covering, its clasps, and its planks, its bars, its pillars, and its bases;

the ark, and its poles, the place of atonement, and the veil of the sheltering;

the table, and its poles, and all its vessels; and the bread of faces;

and the lampstand of the light, and its vessels, and its lamps, and the oil of the light;

and the altar of incense, and its poles, and the oil of anointing, and the fragrant incense, and the sheltering of the entrance, for the entrance of the Habitation;

the altar of burnt··offering, and its grate of bronze, its poles, and all its vessels; the laver and its base;

the hangings of the court, its pillars, and its bases, and the sheltering of the gate of the court;

the pegs of the Habitation, and the pegs of the court, and their cords;

the garments of ministry, to minister in the holy place, the garments of holiness for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to be··priests;

and all the assemblage of the sons of Israel went out from before Moses.

And they came, every man whose heart carried him, and all whose spirit was··freely··willing, brought the uplifting of Jehovah, for the work* of the Tabernacle of the congregation, and for all its service, and for the garments of holiness.

And they came, the men with the women, everyone noble in heart, and brought a brooch, and an earring, and a ring, and a band, every vessel of gold; and every man who waved a wave offering of gold to Jehovah.

And every man brought, with whom was··found blue, and crimson, and scarlet twice-dyed, and fine··linen, and wool of goats, and skins of red rams, and the skins of badgers.

Everyone lifting··up an uplifting of silver and of bronze brought the uplifting of Jehovah; and everyone with whom was found shittim wood for all the work of the service, brought it.

And every woman wise in heart did spin with her hands, and they brought what··was··spun, the blue, and the crimson, the scarlet twice-dyed, and the fine··linen.

And all the women whose heart bore them in wisdom spun the goats wool.

And the chiefs brought the onyx stones, and the stones for filling, for the ephod, and for the breastplate;

and the spice, and the oil for the light, and for the oil of anointing, and for the fragrant incense.

Every man and woman whose heart was··freely··willing to bring for all the work which Jehovah had commanded to do by the hand of Moses, the sons of Israel brought a freewill offering for Jehovah.

And Moses said to the sons of Israel, See ye, Jehovah has called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;

and He has··filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all the work;

and to think thoughts, to make in gold, and in silver, and in bronze;

and in crafting of stone for infilling, and in crafting of wood, to do in all the work from thought.

And he has put into his heart to teach, into him and into Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.

He has filled them with wisdom of heart, to do all the work of the craftsman, and of the thinker, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in crimson, in scarlet twice-dyed, and in fine··linen, and of the weaver, of those who do all the work, and of those who think thoughts.

10729. 'Six days shall work be done' means the first state in the regeneration of a person by the Lord, and in the highest sense the first in the glorification of the Lord's Human. This is clear from the meaning of 'six days' - which come before the seventh or the sabbath, and during which work must be done - as the first state in the regeneration of a person by the Lord, a state when a person is in possession of truths and is being led by means of them towards good, and is engaged in conflicts, dealt with in 8510, 8888, 9431, 10360. As regards its further meaning as a state in the glorification of the Lord's Human when He was in the world, employing Divine Truth to fight the hells, and restoring all things there and in the heavens to a state of order, see 10360. There are two states which a person passes through while being regenerated by the Lord; the first exists when he is in possession of truths and is being led by means of them towards good, the second when he is in possession of good and from good sees and loves truths. In the first state the person is, it is true, being led by the Lord, yet by means of what is his own; for when people are motivated by truths they are motivated by something in themselves, but when they are motivated by good they are motivated by the Lord.

[2] From this it is evident that so far as a person allows himself to be led by means of truths towards good he is led by the Lord and towards the Lord; for in all things which have been joined together there is action and response, good being that which acts and truth that which responds. Truth however is never moved to respond of its own accord; it is moved to do so only by good. Consequently so far as truth is receptive of good it acts in response to it, and so far as it acts in response, it is joined to it. From this it also follows that before a person is joined to the Lord, the Lord spurs him on towards Himself by means of truths; and so far as the person allows himself to be led he is joined to the Lord, for God's truths are by nature such that they conform with good, because truths are conformable to good. As a result the person possesses perception, which is essentially a form of response. Allowing oneself to be spurred on or led by means of truths towards good implies living in accordance with them. These things have been mentioned in order that people may have some idea of what the first state of a person being regenerated is like, meant by 'six days of labour'.
