¹ そこでヨセフはそばに立っているすべての人の前で、自分を制しきれなくなったので、「人は皆ここから出てください」と呼ばわった。それゆえヨセフが兄弟たちに自分のことを明かした時、ひとりも彼のそばに立っている者はなかった。

² ヨセフは声をあげて泣いた。エジプトびとはこれを聞き、パロの家もこれを聞いた。

³ ヨセフは兄弟たちに言った、「わたしはヨセフです。父はまだ生きながらえていますか」。兄弟たちは答えることができなかった。彼らは驚き恐れたからである。

⁴ ヨセフは兄弟たちに言った、「わたしに近寄ってください」。彼らが近寄ったので彼は言った、「わたしはあなたがたの弟ヨセフです。あなたがたがエジプトに売った者です。

⁵ しかしわたしをここに売ったのを嘆くことも、悔むこともいりません。神は命を救うために、あなたがたよりさきにわたしをつかわされたのです。

⁶ この二年の間、国中にききんがあったが、なお五年の間は耕すことも刈り入れることもないでしょう。

⁷ 神は、あなたがたのすえを地に残すため、また大いなる救をもってあなたがたの命を助けるために、わたしをあなたがたよりさきにつかわされたのです。

⁸ それゆえわたしをここにつかわしたのはあなたがたではなく、神です。神はわたしをパロの父とし、その全家の主とし、またエジプト全国のつかさとされました。

⁹ あなたがたは父のもとに急ぎ上って言いなさい、『あなたの子ヨセフが、こう言いました。神がわたしをエジプト全国の主とされたから、ためらわずにわたしの所へ下ってきなさい。

¹⁰ あなたはゴセンの地に住み、あなたも、あなたの子らも、孫たちも、羊も牛も、その他のものもみな、わたしの近くにおらせます。

¹¹ ききんはなお五年つづきますから、あなたも、家族も、その他のものも、みな困らないように、わたしはそこで養いましょう』。

¹² あなたがたと弟ベニヤミンが目に見るとおり、あなたがたに口ら語っているのはこのわたしです。

¹³ あなたがたはエジプトでの、わたしのいっさいの栄えと、あなたがたが見るいっさいの事をわたしの父に告げ、急いでわたしの父をここへ連れ下りなさい」。

¹⁴ そしてヨセフは弟ベニヤミンのくびを抱いて泣き、ベニヤミンも彼のくびを抱いて泣いた。

¹⁵ またヨセフはすべての兄弟たちに口づけし、彼らを抱いて泣いた。そして後、兄弟たちは彼と語った。

¹⁶ 時に、「ヨセフの兄弟たちがきた」と言ううわさがパロの家に聞えたので、パロとその家来たちとは喜んだ。

¹⁷ パロはヨセフに言った、「兄弟たちに言いなさい、『あなたがたは、こうしなさい。獣に荷を負わせてカナンの地へ行き、

¹⁸ 父と家族とを連れてわたしのもとへきなさい。わたしはあなたがたに、エジプトの地の良い物を与えます。あなたがたは、この国の最も良いものを食べるでしょう』。

¹⁹ また彼らに命じなさい、『あなたがたは、こうしなさい。幼な子たちと妻たちのためにエジプトの地から車をもって行き、父を連れてきなさい。

²⁰ 家財に心を引かれてはなりません。エジプト全国の良い物は、あなたがたのものだからです』」。

²¹ イスラエルの子らはそのようにした。ヨセフはパロの命に従って彼らに車を与え、また途中の食料をも与えた。

²² まためいめいに晴着を与えたが、ベニヤミンには銀三百シケルと晴着五着とを与えた。

²³ また彼は父に次のようなものを贈った。すなわちエジプトの良い物を負わせたろば十頭と、穀物、パン及び父の道中の食料を負わせた雌ろば十頭。

²⁴ こうしてヨセフは兄弟たちを送り去らせ、彼らに言った、「途中で争ってはなりません」。

²⁵ 彼らはエジプトから上ってカナンの地に入り、父ヤコブのもとへ行って、

²⁶ 彼に言った、「ヨセフはなお生きていてエジプト全国のつかさです」。ヤコブは気が遠くなった。彼らの言うことが信じられなかったからである。

²⁷ そこで彼らはヨセフが語った言葉を残らず彼に告げた。父ヤコブはヨセフが自分を乗せるために送った車を見て元気づいた。

²⁸ そしてイスラエルは言った、「満足だ。わが子ヨセフがまだ生きている。わたしは死ぬ前に行って彼を見よう」。

¹ Israel traveled with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac.

² God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, "Jacob, Jacob!" He said, "Here I am."

³ He said, "I am God, the God of your father. Don't be afraid to go down into Egypt, for there I will make of you a great nation.

⁴ I will go down with you into Egypt. I will also surely bring you up again. Joseph will close your eyes."

⁵ Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel carried Jacob, their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

⁶ They took their livestock, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt--Jacob, and all his seed with him,

⁷ his sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and he brought all his seed with him into Egypt.

⁸ These are the names of the children of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.

⁹ The sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

¹⁰ The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

¹¹ The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

¹² The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

¹³ The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Iob, and Shimron.

¹⁴ The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.

²⁹ Joseph prepared his chariot, and went up to meet Israel, his father, in Goshen. He presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

³⁰ Israel said to Joseph, "Now let me die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive."

³¹ Joseph said to his brothers, and to his father's house, "I will go up, and speak with Pharaoh, and will tell him, 'My brothers, and my father's house, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

³² These men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.'

³³ It will happen, when Pharaoh summons you, and will say, 'What is your occupation?'

³⁴ that you shall say, 'Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we, and our fathers:' that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians."
