1 Και ελαλησε Κυριος προς τον Μωυσην, λεγων,

2 Την πρωτην ημεραν του πρωτου μηνος θελεις στησει την σκηνην, την σκηνην του μαρτυριου.

3 Και θελεις θεσει εκει την κιβωτον του μαρτυριου, και σκεπασει την κιβωτον με το καταπετασμα.

4 Και θελεις εισαξει την τραπεζαν και διαταξει τα διατακτεα επ' αυτης· και θελεις εισαξει την λυχνιαν και αναψει τους λυχνους αυτης.

5 Και θελεις θεσει το χρυσουν θυσιαστηριον του θυμιαματος εμπροσθεν της κιβωτου του μαρτυριου και επιβαλει τον ταπητα της θυρας εις την σκηνην.

6 Και θελεις θεσει το θυσιαστηριον του ολοκαυτωματος εμπροσθεν της θυρας της σκηνης, της σκηνης του μαρτυριου.

7 Και θελεις θεσει τον νιπτηρα μεταξυ της σκηνης του μαρτυριου και του θυσιαστηριου και βαλει υδωρ εν αυτω.

8 Και θελεις στησει την αυλην κυκλω και κρεμασει το καταπετασμα της πυλης της αυλης.

9 Και θελεις λαβει το χριστηριον ελαιον και χρισει την σκηνην και παντα τα εν αυτη, και θελεις αγιασει αυτην και παντα τα σκευη αυτης και θελει εισθαι αγια.

10 Και θελεις χρισει το θυσιαστηριον του ολοκαυτωματος και παντα τα σκευη αυτου και θελεις αγιασει το θυσιαστηριον· και θελει εισθαι θυσιαστηριον αγιωτατον.

11 Και θελεις χρισει τον νιπτηρα και την βασιν αυτου και αγιασει αυτον.

12 Και θελεις προσαγαγει τον Ααρων και τους υιους αυτου εις την θυραν της σκηνης του μαρτυριου και νιψει αυτους με υδωρ.

13 Και θελεις ενδυσει τον Ααρων τας αγιας στολας και θελεις χρισει αυτον, και αγιασει αυτον, και θελει ιερατευει εις εμε.

14 Και θελεις προσαγαγει τους υιους αυτου και ενδυσει αυτους χιτωνας.

15 Και θελεις χρισει αυτους, καθως εχρισας τον πατερα αυτων, και θελουσιν ιερατευει εις εμε· και θελει εισθαι εις αυτους το χρισμα αυτων προς παντοτεινην ιερατειαν εις τας γενεας αυτων.

16 Και εκαμεν ο Μωυσης κατα παντα οσα προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις αυτον· ουτως εκαμε.

17 Και τον πρωτον μηνα του δευτερου ετους, την πρωτην του μηνος, εστηθη η σκηνη.

18 Και εστησεν ο Μωυσης την σκηνην και εβαλε τα υποβασια αυτης και εστησε τας σανιδας αυτης και εβαλε τους μοχλους αυτης και εστησε τους στυλους αυτης.

19 Και εξηπλωσε τα παραπετασματα επι την σκηνην, και εβαλε το επικαλυμμα της σκηνης επ' αυτην ανωθεν· καθως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις τον Μωυσην.

20 Και λαβων το μαρτυριον εθεσεν εν τη κιβωτω, και εβαλε τους μοχλους εις την κιβωτον, και εβαλε το ιλαστηριον επι την κιβωτον ανωθεν,

21 και εφερε την κιβωτον εις την σκηνην, και επεθηκε το καλυπτηριον καταπετασμα και εσκεπασε την κιβωτον του μαρτυριου· καθως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις τον Μωυσην.

22 Και εθεσε την τραπεζαν εν τη σκηνη του μαρτυριου κατα το μερος της σκηνης το προς βορραν εξωθεν του καταπετασματος,

23 και διεταξεν επ' αυτης τους αρτους τους διατεταγμενους, ενωπιον Κυριου· καθως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις τον Μωυσην.

24 Και εθεσε την λυχνιαν εν τη σκηνη του μαρτυριου απεναντι της τραπεζης κατα το μερος της σκηνης το προς μεσημβριαν,

25 και ανηψε τους λυχνους ενωπιον Κυριου· καθως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις τον Μωυσην.

26 Και εθεσε το χρυσουν θυσιαστηριον εν τη σκηνη του μαρτυριου απεναντι του καταπετασματος,

27 και εθυμιασεν επ' αυτου ευωδες θυμιαμα· καθως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις τον Μωυσην.

28 Και επεθηκε τον ταπητα εις την θυραν της σκηνης.

29 Και το θυσιαστηριον του ολοκαυτωματος εθεσε παρα την θυραν της σκηνης, της σκηνης του μαρτυριου, και προσεφερεν επ' αυτου το ολοκαυτωμα και την εξ αλφιτων προσφοραν· καθως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις τον Μωυσην.

30 Και εθεσε τον νιπτηρα μεταξυ της σκηνης του μαρτυριου και του θυσιαστηριου και εβαλεν εν αυτω, υδωρ, δια να νιπτωνται·

31 και ενιπτον εξ αυτου ο Μωυσης και ο Ααρων και οι υιοι αυτου τας χειρας αυτων και τους ποδας αυτων.

32 Οτε εισηρχοντο εις την σκηνην του μαρτυριου και οτε προσηρχοντο εις το θυσιαστηριον, ενιπτοντο καθως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις τον Μωυσην.

33 Και εστησε την αυλην κυκλω της σκηνης και του θυσιαστηριου και εκρεμασε τον ταπητα της πυλης της αυλης. Και συνετελεσεν ο Μωυσης το εργον.

34 Τοτε εκαλυψεν η νεφελη την σκηνην του μαρτυριου και δοξα Κυριου ενεπλησε την σκηνην.

35 Και δεν ηδυνηθη ο Μωυσης να εισελθη εις την σκηνην του μαρτυριου· διοτι η νεφελη εκαθητο επ' αυτην, και δοξα Κυριου ενεπλησε την σκηνην.

36 Και οτε η νεφελη ανεβαινεν επανωθεν της σκηνης, οι υιοι Ισραηλ εσηκονοντο καθ' ολας αυτων τας οδοιποριας·

37 αν ομως η νεφελη δεν ανεβαινε, τοτε δεν εσηκονοντο μεχρι της ημερας της αναβασεως αυτης.

38 διοτι η νεφελη του Κυριου ητο επι της σκηνης την ημεραν, και πυρ ητο επ' αυτης την νυκτα, ενωπιον παντος του οικου Ισραηλ· καθ' ολας αυτων τας οδοιποριας.

10832. Exodus 40

1. And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

2. On the first day of the first month 1 you shall erect the dwelling-place of the tent of meeting.

3. And you shall place there the ark of the Testimony, and screen the ark with the veil.

4. And you shall bring in the table and arrange its arrangement; and you shall bring in the lampstand and light its lamps 2 .

5. And you shall put the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the Testimony and set in place the screen of the door to the dwelling-place.

6. And you shall put the altar of burnt offering before the door of the dwelling-place of the tent of meeting.

7. And you shall put the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.

8. And you shall set the court in place round about and put up the screen of the gate of the court.

9. And you shall take the oil of anointing, and anoint the dwelling-place and all the things that are in it, and sanctify it and all its vessels; and it shall be holy.

10. And you shall anoint the altar of burnt offering, and all its vessels, and sanctify the altar; and the altar shall be most holy.

11. And you shall anoint the laver and its pedestal, and sanctify it.

12. And you shall bring 3 Aaron and his sons to the door of the tent of meeting, and wash them with water.

13. And you shall clothe Aaron with the holy garments 4 , and you shall anoint him and sanctify him, and he shall serve Me in the priestly office.

14. And you shall bring his sons near, and clothe them with tunics 5 .

15. And you shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, and they shall serve Me in the priestly office; and it shall be, that their anointing shall make them an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations 6 .

16. And Moses did according to all that Jehovah had commanded him; so he did.

17. And it happened in the first month in the second year, on the first [day] in the month, that the dwelling-place was erected.

18. And Moses erected the dwelling-place, and put down its bases, and set its boards in place, and put in its bars, and erected its pillars.

19. And he spread the tent over the dwelling-place, and placed the covering of the tent over it, up above, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

20. And he took the Testimony and put it into the ark, and set the poles in place on the ark, and put the mercy-seat on the ark, up above.

21. And he brought the ark into the dwelling-place, and set in place the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the Testimony, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

22. And he put the table into the tent of meeting on the north side of the dwelling-place 7 , outside the veil.

23. And he arranged on it the arrangement of the bread before Jehovah, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

24. And he placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table, on the south side of the dwelling-place 8 .

25. And he lit the lamps 2 before Jehovah, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

26. And he placed the altar of gold in the tent of meeting before the veil.

27. And he burned on it incense of spices, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

28. And he set in place the screen of the door to the dwelling-place.

29. And the altar of burnt offering he placed at the door of the dwelling-place of the tent of meeting, and offered 9 on it burnt offering and minchah, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

30. And he placed the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing.

31. And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet [with water] from it.

32. When they went into the tent of meeting, and when they drew near the altar, they washed, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

33. And he erected the court around the dwelling-place and the altar, and put up the screen of the gate of the court. And Moses finished the work.

34. And the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the dwelling-place.

35. And Moses could not enter the tent of meeting, because the cloud rested over it, and the glory of Jehovah filled the dwelling-place.

36. And when the cloud went up from over the dwelling-place the children of Israel journeyed in all their journeys.

37. And if the cloud did not go up they did not journey until the day of its going up.

38. For the cloud of Jehovah was over the dwelling-place by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight 10 of all the house of Israel, in all their journeys.

CONTENTS

These matters as well are passed over without any further explanation, for these again are the same things as have been described before and explained on previous occasions, except for those mentioned at the end of this chapter. There it says that after Moses had finished the work the cloud covered the tent and the glory of Jehovah filled the dwelling-place, also that the cloud rested over the tent by day, and fire was in it by night, and that the children of Israel journeyed every time the cloud went up. What all this means is also evident from the things often stated and shown before regarding the cloud, the glory of Jehovah, fire, and journeys.
