Ezekiel 26

1 I det ellevte År På den første dag i ... månede kom HE ENs Ord til mig således:

2 Menneskesøn! Fordi Tyrus siger om Jerusalem: "Ha, ha! Folkeslagenes Port er knust; den står mig åben; den var rig, men er nu øde!"

3 derfor, så siger den Herre HE EN: Se, jeg kommer over dig, Tyrus, og fører mange Folk imod dig, som når Havet rejser sine Bølger.

4 De skal ødelægge Tyruss Mure og nedbryde Tårnene. Jeg fejer Muldet bort og gør Tyrus til nøgen Klippe;

5 en Tørreplads for Net skal det være ude i Havet, så sandt jeg har talet, lyder det fra den Herre HE EN; og det skal blive et Bytte for Folkene.

6 Dets Døtre på Land skal hugges ned med Sværd; og de skal kende, at jeg er HE EN.

7 Thi så siger den Herre HE EN: Se, nordenfra fører jeg mod Tyrus Kong Nebukadrezar af Babel, Kongernes Konge, med Heste, Vogne og yttere og en vældig Hærskare.

8 Dine Døtre på Land skal han hugge ned med Sværd; han skal bygge Belejringstårne, opkaste Stormvold og rejse Skjoldtag imod dig;

9 sin Murbrækkers Stød skal han rette imod dine Mure og nedbryde dine Tårne med sine Sværd.

10 Hans Heste skal myldre, så Støvet, de rejser, skjuler dig; yttere, Hjul og Vogne skal larme, så dine Mure ryster, når han drager igennem dine Porte, som når man trænger ind i en stormet By.

11 Med sine Hestes Hove skal han nedtrampe alle dine Gader; dit Folk skal han hugge ned med Sværdet og styrte dine stolte Støtter til Jorden.

12 De skal rane din igdom og gøre dine Handelsvarer til Bytte; de skal nedbryde dine Mure og nedrive dine herlige Huse: Sten, Tømmer og Ler skal de kaste i Vandet.

13 Jeg gør Endepå dine brusende Sange, og dine Citres Klang skal ikke mere høres.

14 Jeg gør dig til nøgen Klippe, en Tørreplads for Net skal du være. Aldrig mere skal du bygges, så sandt jeg, HE EN, har talet, lyder det fra den Herre HE EN.

15 siger den Herre HE EN til Tyrus: For sandt, ved dit drønende Fald, ved de såredes Stønnen, når Sværd hugger løs i din Midte, skal Strandene skælve.

16 Ned fra sin Trone stiger hver Fyrste ved Havet, Kapperne lægger de bort, aflægger de brogede Klæder og Klæder sig i Sorg; de sidderJorden og skæler uafbrudt, slagne af ædsel over dig.

17 De synger en Klagesang om dig og siger til dig: Ak, du gik under, forsvandt fra Havet, du fejrede By, du, som var vældig på Havet, du og dine Borgere, du, der jog ædsel i alle, som boede der!

18 Nu gribes Strandene af Skælven, den Dag du falder, og Havets Øer forfærdes over din Udgang!

19 Thi så siger den Herre HE EN: Når jeg gør dig til en øde By og lige med affolkede Byer, når jeg fører Verdensdybet over dig, og de vældige Vande skjuler dig,

20 så støder jeg dig ned iblandt dem, der steg ned i Dybet, blandt Fortidens Folk, og lader dig ligge i Underverdenen som ældgamle uiner blandt dem, der steg ned i Dybet, for at du aldrig mere skal bebos eller rejse dig i de levendes Land;

21 jeg giver dig hen til brat Undergang, og det skal være ude med dig; selv om der søges efter dig, skal du aldrig i Evighed findes, lyder det fra den Herre HE EN.

9826. 'And a checkered tunic' means Divine Truth inmostly present there, emanating directly from the Divine Celestial. This is clear from the meaning of 'a tunic' as natural truth. But when the subject is Aaron, whose garments represented the forms of truth belonging to the Lord's spiritual kingdom, 9814, 9822, 'a tunic' means Divine Truth inmostly present in that kingdom, thus that which emanates from what is right next to it, namely the Divine Celestial, which is the Lord's Divine Good in the inmost heaven. The fact that such things are meant by 'tunics', see 4677. For the heavens are three - the inmost, which is called celestial; the middle, which is called spiritual; and the lowest, which approaches what is natural. In the inmost heaven the good of love to the Lord is predominant, in the middle one the good of charity towards the neighbour, and in the lowest the good of faith. Those heavens are completely distinct and separate from one another, so much so that nobody in one can possibly pass over into the next. Yet in order that they may still make one heaven they are joined together by means of intermediate angelic communities; in this way one heaven leads on from another. Since therefore Aaron's garments represent the spiritual heaven, and so the forms of truth there in their proper order, it is evident that the inmost garment, called 'a checkered tunic', represents the truth inmostly present there, emanating directly from the Divine Celestial. The word 'checkered' is used because it was a woven garment, as is clear from what follows later on in the Book of Exodus,

They made tunics of fine linen, the work of a weaver, for Aaron and for his sons. Exodus 39:27.

It was made from fine linen in order that truth from a celestial origin might be represented, such truth being meant by 'fine linen', see 9469.

488. As has been stated, 'days' means states in general, and 'years' states in particular. This too becomes clear from the Word, as in Ezekiel,

You have brought your days near, and you have come even to your years. Ezekiel 22:4.

This refers to people who behave abominably and sin to the fullest extent, and so 'days' has reference in this case to such people's state in general, 'years' to that state in particular.

In David,

You will add days to the king's days; and his years as generation after generation! Psalms 61:6.

This refers to the Lord and His kingdom, where again 'days' and 'years' stand for the state of His kingdom.

In the same author,

I have considered the days of old, the years of long ago. Psalms 77:5.

Here 'days of old' is states of the Most Ancient Church, and 'years of long ago' states of the Ancient Church. In Isaiah,

The day of vengeance was in My heart, and the year of My redeemed has come. Isaiah 63:4.

This stands for the final times, where 'the day of vengeance' stands for a state of condemnation, and 'the year of the redeemed' for a state of blessedness.

Similarly, in the same prophet,

To proclaim the year of Jehovah's good pleasure, and the day of vengeance for our God; to comfort all who mourn. Isaiah 61:2.

Here again 'days' and also 'years' are mentioned and mean states.

In Jeremiah,

Renew our days as of old. Lamentations 5:21.

Here 'days' plainly stands for state.

[2] In Joel,

The day of Jehovah is coming, for it is near, a day of darkness and thick darkness, a tiny of cloud and gloom, as has never happened of old, nor will be again after it through the years of generation after generation. Joel 2:1-2, 11.

Here 'day' stands for a state of darkness, thick darkness, cloud and gloom - a state of individuals in particular and of all in general.

In Zechariah,

I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day. On that day you will shout, each to his companion, under his vine and under his fig tree. Zechariah 3:9-10.

And elsewhere in Zechariah,

There will be one tiny, it is known to Jehovah, which is neither day nor night, and at evening time there will be light. Zechariah 14:7.

State is clearly meant here, for it is said that 'it will be a day, which is neither day nor night; at evening time there will be light'.

The same meaning is also clear from the following in the Decalogue,

Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged, and that it may be well with you in the land. Deuteronomy 5:16; 25:15.

Here 'a prolonging of days' does not mean living on into old age but a state that is happy.

[3] In the sense of the letter 'day' cannot be seen to mean anything other than a period of time, but in the internal sense it means a state. Angels, who abide in the internal sense of the Word, do not know what a period of time is, for the activity of the sun and moon with them does not produce divisions of time. As a consequence they do not know what a day or a year is, but only what states and changes of state are. This is why among angels, who abide in the internal sense of the Word, anything connected with matter, space, and time, goes unnoticed, as with the following usages in the sense of the letter in Ezekiel,

The day is near, even the day of Jehovah is near, a day of cloud; it will be a time of the nations. Ezekiel 30:3.

And in Joel,

Alas for the day! For the day of Jehovah is near, and as destruction. Joel 1:15.

Here 'a day of cloud' stands for cloud or falsity, 'a day of the nations' for the nations or wickedness, and 'the day of Jehovah' for vastation. When the concept of time is removed there remains the concept of the state of the things existing during that period of time. The same applies to the days and the years that are mentioned so many times in this chapter.
