Exploring the Meaning of Mark 2

O tomto překladu:

Mark Chapter 2.

NCBS Staff: the Summary

In this chapter, Jesus returns to Capernaum, and heals and teaches. Famous scenes play out in rapid succession:

- Jesus heals a man who had palsy, and could not walk - "Arise, take up your bed, and walk."

- Jesus eats a meal with publicans and sinners, and fends off criticism: "They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick".

- Jesus makes it clear that he is charting a new course:
--"And no man putteth new wine into old wineskins".
--"The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath".

- Jesus calls himself the Son of man, and Lord of the sabbath.

For us, this symbolizes our need to allow the Lord to remove our palsy - our evil loves and false ideas, so that we can "walk", or start to do good.

Even though we have sinned, and are still sinners, the Lord will eat with us - he will not reject us if we seek him.

He will fill us with good loves and true ideas, if we invite him to. They can't fit, though, in a merely external practice of ritual; the new loves and new truths being taught and practiced by Jesus Christ needed to be conjoined in a new religion.
