Ezekiel 8

Studie

And it was, in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, that I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, and the hand of the Lord Jehovih* fell on me there.

And I saw, and, behold, a likeness as the appearance of fire; from the appearance of His loins and downward, fire; and from His loins and upward, as a shining appearance, as the aspect of amber.

And He sent the shape of a hand, and took me by the fringe of my head; and the spirit lifted me between the earth and the heavens, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the inner gate that faces toward the north, where the similitude of jealousy was sitting, which causes··jealousy.

And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according··to the vision that I saw in the vale.

And He said to me, Son of man, lift··up thine eyes now the way toward the north. And I lifted··up my eyes the way toward the north, and behold, northward at the gate of the altar was this similitude of jealousy in the entry.

And He said to me, Son of man, seest thou what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel does here, that I should be··far from My sanctuary? But return thee yet··again; thou shalt see greater abominations.

And He brought me to the entrance of the court; and I saw, and behold, one hole in the wall.

And He said unto me, Son of man, dig··through now into the wall; and I dug··through into the wall, and behold, one entrance.

And He said to me, Go··in, and see the evil abominations that they are doing here.

And I came··in and saw; and behold, every shape of creeping things, and detestable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed on the wall around and around.

And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, and each··man with his incense··burner in his hand; and a supplicating cloud of incense went··up.

And He said to me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each··man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, Jehovah sees us not; Jehovah has forsaken the earth.

And He said to me, Thou shalt yet return; thou shalt see greater abominations that they are doing.

And He brought me to the entrance of the gate of Jehovah’s house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

And said He to me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Turn· thee ·back yet··again; thou shalt see greater abominations than these.

And He brought me into the inner court of Jehovah’s house, and, behold, at the entrance of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of Jehovah, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

And He said to me, Hast thou seen, O son of man? Is· it a ·light thing to the house of Judah which they do, the abominations which they do here? For they have··filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke Me; and, behold, they put··forth the sprig to their nose.

And I will also do this with fury; My eye shall not spare, neither will I have··pity; and they will call in My ears with a great voice, and I will not hear them.
