Shemot第40章

1 וידבר יהוה אל־משה לאמר׃

2 ביום־החדש הראשון באחד לחדש תקים את־משכן אהל מועד׃

3 ושמת שם את ארון העדות וסכת על־הארן את־הפרכת׃

4 והבאת את־השלחן וערכת את־ערכו והבאת את־המנרה והעלית את־נרתיה׃

5 ונתתה את־מזבח הזהב לקטרת לפני ארון העדת ושמת את־מסך הפתח למשכן׃

6 ונתתה את מזבח העלה לפני פתח משכן אהל־מועד׃

7 ונתת את־הכיר בין־אהל מועד ובין המזבח ונתת שם מים׃

8 ושמת את־החצר סביב ונתת את־מסך שער החצר׃

9 ולקחת את־שמן המשחה ומשחת את־המשכן ואת־כל־אשר־בו וקדשת אתו ואת־כל־כליו והיה קדש׃

10 ומשחת את־מזבח העלה ואת־כל־כליו וקדשת את־המזבח והיה המזבח קדש קדשים׃

11 ומשחת את־הכיר ואת־כנו וקדשת אתו׃

12 והקרבת את־אהרן ואת־בניו אל־פתח אהל מועד ורחצת אתם במים׃

13 והלבשת את־אהרן את בגדי הקדש ומשחת אתו וקדשת אתו וכהן לי׃

14 ואת־בניו תקריב והלבשת אתם כתנת׃

15 ומשחת אתם כאשר משחת את־אביהם וכהנו לי והיתה להית להם משחתם לכהנת עולם לדרתם׃*

16 ויעש משה ככל אשר צוה יהוה אתו כן עשה׃ ס

17 ויהי בחדש הראשון בשנה השנית באחד לחדש הוקם המשכן׃

18 ויקם משה את־המשכן ויתן את־אדניו וישם את־קרשיו ויתן את־בריחיו ויקם את־עמודיו׃

19 ויפרש את־האהל על־המשכן וישם את־מכסה האהל עליו מלמעלה כאשר צוה יהוה את־משה׃ ס

20 ויקח ויתן את־העדת אל־הארן וישם את־הבדים על־הארן ויתן את־הכפרת על־הארן מלמעלה׃

21 ויבא את־הארן אל־המשכן וישם את פרכת המסך ויסך על ארון העדות כאשר צוה יהוה את־משה׃ ס

22 ויתן את־השלחן באהל מועד על ירך המשכן צפנה מחוץ לפרכת׃

23 ויערך עליו ערך לחם לפני יהוה כאשר צוה יהוה את־משה׃ ס

24 וישם את־המנרה באהל מועד נכח השלחן על ירך המשכן נגבה׃

25 ויעל הנרת לפני יהוה כאשר צוה יהוה את־משה׃ ס

26 וישם את־מזבח הזהב באהל מועד לפני הפרכת׃

27 ויקטר עליו קטרת סמים כאשר צוה יהוה את־משה׃ ף

28 וישם את־מסך הפתח למשכן׃

29 ואת מזבח העלה שם פתח משכן אהל־מועד ויעל עליו את־העלה ואת־המנחה כאשר צוה יהוה את־משה׃ ס

30 וישם את־הכיר בין־אהל מועד ובין המזבח ויתן שמה מים לרחצה׃

31 ורחצו ממנו משה ואהרן ובניו את־ידיהם ואת־רגליהם׃

32 בבאם אל־אהל מועד ובקרבתם אל־המזבח ירחצו כאשר צוה יהוה את־משה׃ ס

33 ויקם את־החצר סביב למשכן ולמזבח ויתן את־מסך שער החצר ויכל משה את־המלאכה׃ ף

34 ויכס העןן את־אהל מועד וכבוד יהוה מלא את־המשכן׃

35 ולא־יכל משה לבוא אל־אהל מועד כי־שכן עליו העןן וכבוד יהוה מלא את־המשכן׃

36 ובהעלות העןן מעל המשכן יסעו בני ישראל בכל מסעיהם׃

37 ואם־לא יעלה העןן ולא יסעו עד־יום העלתו׃

38 כי עןן יהוה על־המשכן יוםם ואש תהיה לילה בו לעיני כל־בית־ישראל בכל־מסעיהם׃

9784. 'In the tent of meeting' means the Lord's presence. This is clear from the consideration that the tent was made for the express purpose of providing a place for the Lord to meet Moses and Aaron, and also the children of Israel. Therefore also the holy act of worship was performed there, as the following verses in Exodus make clear,

They shall make the continual burnt offering at the door of the tent of meeting before Jehovah, where I will meet you to speak to you there. And there I will meet the children of Israel; and it shall be sanctified by My glory. And I will sanctify the tent of meeting and the altar; and Aaron and his sons I will sanctify to perform the priestly function for Me. And I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel. Exodus 29:42-45.

And there is another place which declares that the Lord would meet them there or would be present there,

When all these things had been completed the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the dwelling-place. And Moses could not enter the tent of meeting, because the cloud dwelt over it, and the glory of Jehovah filled the dwelling-place. The cloud of Jehovah was over the dwelling-place by day, and fire was in it by night, in the eyes of all the house of Israel. Exodus 40:33-end.

From these places it becomes clear that 'the tent of meeting' means the place where the Lord's presence is. It does so because the tent represented heaven, and heaven is heaven by virtue of the Lord's presence there, on which account also it was called Jehovah's dwelling-place.
