If we turn ourselves toward the Lord, we can get the full inflowing of His wisdom and love; if we turn away from Him we cast ourselves into cold and shadow -- we turn ourselves toward hell. In the Bible, "turning" generally refers to a change in spiritual state, as people turn themselves toward the Lord or away from the Lord.
Význam „věřit“ v Bibli je docela přímočarý, ale běží hlouběji než to, co se objevuje na povrchu. Když byli ve Starém zákoně lidé vyzváni, aby věřili v Jehovu, znamenalo to víru, že Jehova je povede v duchovních věcech, nejen v těch přírodních, že následování Ho povede k duchovnímu životu. Když lidé v Nového zákona věřili v Ježíše, znamenalo to v něho plně věřit, jako Bůh sám, všemocný. Do této úrovně víry bylo zahrnuto také víra v to, co učil, a důležitost řídit se jeho příkazy. To je důvod, proč Peter klesl při chůzi po vodě; začal vidět spíše lidský prvek Ježíše než samotného Boha. To je také důvod, proč Ježíš nemohl dělat zázraky ve své domovské oblasti; lidé znali Ho jako chlapce a mladého muže a nemohli v Něho věřit jako Bůh.
