376. From this it follows that the “crying of bloods” signifies the accusation of guilt; for those who use violence are held guilty. As in David:

Evil shall slay the wicked, and they that hate the righteous shall be guilty (Psalms 34:21).

In Ezekiel:

Thou city art become guilty by the blood which thou hast shed (Ezekiel 22:4).

4 You have become guilty in your blood that you have shed, and are defiled in your idols which you have made; and you have caused your days to draw near, and are come even to your years: therefore have I made you a reproach to the nations, and a mocking to all the countries.
