Head
The head is the part of us that is highest, which means in a representative sense that it is what is closest to the Lord. Because of this the head represents what is inmost in us, the thing at the center of our being. In most cases this means intelligence and wisdom, since most of us are in a state of life in which we are led by our thoughts and reason. In the case of the Lord, however, it often represents His perfect love. And in many cases the head is used to represent the whole person.

Arcana Coelestia #6404
6404. 'Gad' means works motivated by truth but not as yet by good. This is clear from the representation of 'Gad' as works, dealt with in 3934, 3935, here works that are motivated by truth but not as yet by good. This meaning is evident from the description of the man in the internal sense; it is also what follows in the overall line of thought, for 'Dan' immediately above represents those who are guided by truth but not as yet by good, 6396, and now here 'Gad' represents those who perform works that are motivated by truth but not as yet by good. The essential nature of those works will be stated in what follows immediately below.
