1
And He called in my ears with a great voice, saying, Cause the overseers of the city to come··near, and each··man◦ with his destroying weapon◦ in his hand.
2
And, behold, six men◦ came from the way of the uppermost gate, which faces toward the north, and each··man◦ had a weapon◦ for shattering in his hand; and one man◦ in their midst was clothed with linen, with an inkstand of the scribe by his loins; and they came··in, and stood beside the bronze altar.
3
And the glory of the God of Israel had··gone··up from upon the cherub, where▵ He was, to▵ the threshold of the house. And He called to▵ the man◦ clothed with linen, which had the scribe’s inkstand by his loins;
4
and Jehovah said unto▵ him, Pass··through the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and mark a mark upon the foreheads of the men◦ that sigh and that groan◦ for▵ all the abominations that be done in the midst.
5
And to these He said in my ears, Pass··through the city after him, and smite; let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
6
kill to destruction the elder, the young··man, and the virgin, and the infant, and women; but approach not every man◦ on whom is the mark; and begin from My sanctuary. And they began with the old men◦ which were before the house.
7
And He said unto▵ them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain; go· ye ·out. And they went··forth, and smote in the city.
8
And it was, that they were smiting them, and I◦ was··left, and I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Alas Lord Jehovih*! art Thou◦ destroying all that··is··left of Israel in Thy spilling··out of Thy fury upon Jerusalem?
9
And He said to▵ me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is very very great, and the land is··full of bloods*, and the city is··full of distortion◦*; for they say, Jehovah has forsaken the earth, and Jehovah sees not◦.
10
And as for Me◦ also, My eye shall not spare, neither will I have··pity, but I will give their way upon◦ their head.
11
And, behold, the man◦ clothed with linen, which had the inkstand by his loins, returned the word, saying, I have done as◦ Thou hast commanded me.
