Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, ye, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come··out from the waters of Judah; who promised by the name of Jehovah, and who make··mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in justice;

for from the city of holiness they are called, and upon the God of Israel they are supported; Jehovah of Armies is His name.

I have told the former things since then; and from My mouth they went··out, and I made them heard; suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.

From my knowing that thou wast hard, and that thy neck was a sinew of iron, and that thy forehead was bronze,

and I told it to thee since that··time; before it came to pass, I made thee hear, lest thou shouldst say, My idol has done them, and my graven image and my molten image have commanded them.

Thou hast heard; behold, all this is accomplished; and will you not tell it? From now I make thee to hear new things, and things preserved, and thou hast not known them.

They are created now, and not from the beginning; and before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldst say, Behold, I knew them!

Yea, thou hast not heard; yea, thou hast· not ·known; yea, from the first thine ear was not opened; for I knew that acting··treacherously thou wouldst act··treacherously, and that thou wast called a transgressor from the belly.

For the sake of My name I will be··slow to My anger; and for the sake of My praise I will restrain it for thee, that I may not cut· thee ·off.

Behold, I have refined thee, but not for silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

For My own sake, for My own sake, will I do it; for how should it be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.

Hearken to Me, O Jacob and Israel, whom I have called; I am He; I am the First, and I am the Last:

yea, My hand has founded the earth; and My right hand has measured the heavens with a hand··breadth; I call to them; they stand together.

Bring··yourselves together, all of you, and hear; who among them has··told these things? Jehovah has loved him; and He will do His delight on Babylon, and His arm on the Chaldeans.

I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him; I have brought him, and he will make· his way ·prosper.

Come··near to Me, and hear ye this; From the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time when it began to be, there I am. And now the Lord Jehovih* has sent Me, and His Spirit.

Thus says Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy··One of Israel; I am Jehovah, thy God, who teaches thee to profit, who makes· thy ·way in the way in which thou walkest.

O that thou hadst attended to My commandments! Then thy peace would have been as a river, and thy justice as the waves of the sea:

and thy seed would have been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels as its grains; his name would not have been cut··off and blotted··out from before Me.

Go· ye ·out from Babylon; run··away from the Chaldeans with the voice of a loud··shout; tell ye, make this heard; cause it to Go··out to the end of the earth: say ye, Jehovah has redeemed His servant Jacob;

and they shall not thirst in the wastes, in which He will make them go; He will cause waters from the rock to stream forth for them; and He will split··open the rock, and the waters shall flow.

There is no peace for the wicked, says Jehovah.
