Le 'piaghe' significano i mali dell'amore e le falsità della fede. In Apocalisse 16, "le piaghe furono versate sugli uomini dagli angeli dal cielo" quando erano verità e beni mandati giù dal Signore che furono trasformati in mali e falsità dalle persone che erano sotto. Le piaghe d'Egitto' significano le falsità e la lussuria che fanno perire la chiesa.
