1 በዚያን ቀን ኢየሱስ ከቤት ወጥቶ በባሕር አጠገብ ተቀመጠ፤

2 እርሱም በታንኳ ገብቶ እስኪቀመጥ ድረስ ብዙ ሰዎች ወደ እርሱ ተሰበሰቡ፥ ሕዝቡም ሁሉ በወደቡ ቆመው ነበር።

3 በምሳሌም ብዙ ነገራቸው እንዲህም አላቸው። እነሆ፥ ዘሪዘራ ወጣ።

4 እርሱም ሲዘራ አንዳንዱ በመንገድ ዳር ወደቀ፥ ወፎችም መጥተው በሉት።

5 ሌላውም ብዙ መሬት በሌለበት በጭንጫ ላይ ወደቀ፤ ጥልቅ መሬትም ስላልነበረው ወዲያው በቀለ፥

6 ፀሐይ በወጣ ጊዜ ግን ጠወለገ፥ ሥርም ስላልነበረው ደረቀ።

7 ሌላውም በእሾህ መካከል ወደቀ፥ እሾህም ወጣና አነቀው።

8 ሌላውም በመልካም መሬት ወደቀ፤ አንዱም መቶ፥ አንዱም ስድሳ፥ አንዱም ሠላሳ ፍሬ ሰጠ።

9 የሚሰማ ጆሮ ያለው ይስማ።

10 ደቀ መዛሙርቱም ቀርበው። ስለ ምን በምሳሌ ትነግራቸዋለህ? አሉት።

11 እርሱም መልሶ እንዲህ አላቸው። ለእናንተ የመንግሥተ ሰማያትን ምሥጢር ማወቅ ተሰጥቶአችኋል፥ ለእነርሱ ግን አልተሰጣቸውም።

12 ላለው ይሰጠዋልና ይበዛለትማል፤ ከሌለው ግን ያው ያለው እንኳ ይወሰድበታል።

13 ስለዚህ እያዩ ስለማያዩ እየሰሙም ስለማይሰሙ ስለማያስተውሉም በምሳሌ እነግራቸዋለሁ።

14 መስማት ትሰማላችሁና አታስተውሉም፥ ማየትም ታያላችሁና አትመለከቱም።

15 በዓይናቸው እንዳያዩ፥ በጆሮአቸውም እንዳይሰሙ፥ በልባቸውም እንዳያስተውሉ፥ ተመልሰውም እንዳልፈውሳቸው፥ የዚህ ሕዝብ ልብ ደንድኖአልና ጆሮአቸውም ደንቁሮአል ዓይናቸውንም ጨፍነዋል የሚል የኢሳይያስ ትንቢት በእነርሱ ይፈጸማል።

16 የእናንተ ግን ዓይኖቻችሁ ስለሚያዩ ጆሮቻችሁም ስለሚሰሙ ብፁዓን ናቸው።

17 እውነት እላችኋለሁ፥ ብዙዎች ነቢያትና ጻድቃን የምታዩትን ሊያዩ ተመኝተው አላዩም፥ የምትሰሙትንም ሊሰሙ ተመኝተው አልሰሙም።

18 እንግዲህ እናንተ የዘሪውን ምሳሌ ስሙ።

19 መንግሥትቃል ሰምቶ በማያስተውል ሁሉ፥ ክፉው ይመጣል፥ በልቡ የተዘራውንም ይነጥቃል፤ በመንገድ ዳር የተዘራው ይህ ነው።

20 በጭንጫ ላይ የተዘራውም ይህ ቃሉን ሰምቶ ወዲያው በደስታ የሚቀበለው ነው፤

21 ነገር ግን ለጊዜው ነው እንጂ በእርሱ ሥር የለውም፥ በቃሉ ምክንያትም መከራ ወይም ስደት በሆነ ጊዜ ወዲያው ይሰናከላል።

22 እሾህ መካከል የተዘራውም ይህ ቃሉን የሚሰማ ነው፥ የዚህም ዓለም አሳብና የባለጠግነት መታለል ቃሉን ያንቃል፥ የማያፈራም ይሆናል።

23 በመልካም መሬት የተዘራውም ይህ ቃሉን ሰምቶ የሚያስተውል ነው፤ እርሱም ፍሬ ያፈራል አንዱም መቶ አንዱም ስድሳ አንዱም ሠላሳ ያደርጋል።

24 ሌላ ምሳሌ አቀረበላቸው እንዲህም አለ። መንግሥተ ሰማያት በእርሻው መልካም ዘርን የዘራን ሰው ትመስላለች።

25 ሰዎቹ ሲተኙ ግን ጠላቱ መጣና በስንዴው መካከል እንክርዳድን ዘርቶ ሄደ።

26 ስንዴውም በበቀለና በአፈራ ጊዜ እንክርዳዱ ደግሞ ያን ጊዜ ታየ።

27 የባለቤቱም ባሮች ቀርበው። ጌታ ሆይ፥ መልካምን ዘር በእርሻህ ዘርተህ አልነበርህምን? እንክርዳዱንስ ከወዴት አገኘ? አሉት።

28 እርሱም። ጠላት ይህን አደረገ አላቸው። ባሮቹም። እንግዲህ ሄደን ብንለቅመው ትወዳለህን? አሉት።

29 እርሱ ግን። እንክርዳዱን ስትለቅሙ ስንዴውን ከእርሱ ጋር እንዳትነቅሉት አይሆንም።

30 ተዉአቸው፤ እስከ መከር ጊዜ አብረው ይደጉ፤ በመከር ጊዜም አጫጆችን። እንክርዳዱን አስቀድማችሁ ልቀሙ በእሳትም ለማቃጠል በየነዶው እሰሩ፥ ስንዴውን ግን በጎተራዬ ክተቱ እላለሁ አለ።

31 ሌላ ምሳሌ አቀረበላቸው እንዲህም አለ። መንግሥተ ሰማያት ሰው ወስዶ በእርሻው የዘራትን የሰናፍጭ ቅንጣት ትመስላለች፤

32 እርስዋም ከዘር ሁሉ ታንሳለች፥ በአደገች ጊዜ ግን፥ ከአታክልቶች ትበልጣለች የሰማይም ወፎች መጥተው በቅርንጫፎችዋ እስኪሰፍሩ ድረስ ዛፍ ትሆለች።

33 ሌላ ምሳሌ ነገራቸው እንዲህም አለ። መንግሥተ ሰማያት ሁሉ እስኪቦካ ድረስ ሴት ወስዳ በሦስት መስፈሪያ ዱቄት የሸሸገችውን እርሾ ትመስላለች።

34-35 ኢየሱስም ለሕዝቡ ይህን ሁሉ በምሳሌ ተናገረ፤ በነቢዩም። በምሳሌ አፌን እከፍታለሁ፥ ዓለም ከተፈጠረ ጀምሮ የተሰወረውንም እናገራለሁ የተባለው ይፈጸም ዘንድ ያለ ምሳሌ አልተናገራቸውም።

36 በዚያን ጊዜ ሕዝቡን ትቶ ወደ ቤት ገባ። ደቀ መዛሙርቱም ወደ እርሱ ቀርበው። የእርሻውን እንክርዳድ ምሳሌ ተርጕምልን አሉት።

37 እርሱም መልሶ እንዲህ አላቸው። መልካምን ዘር የዘራው የሰው ልጅ ነው፤ እርሻውም ዓለም ነው፤

38 መልካሙም ዘር የመንግሥት ልጆች ናቸው፤

39 እንክርዳዱም የክፉው ልጆች ናቸው፥ የዘራውም ጠላት ዲያብሎስ ነው፤ መከሩም የዓለም መጨረሻ ነው፥ አጫጆችም መላእክት ናቸው።

40 እንግዲህ እንክርዳድ ተለቅሞ በእሳት እንደሚቃጠል፥ በዓለም መጨረሻ እንዲሁ ይሆናል።

41 የሰው ልጅ መላእክቱን ይልካል፥ ከመንግሥቱም እንቅፋትን ሁሉ ዓመፃንም የሚያደርጉትን ይለቅማሉ፥

42 ወደ እቶነ እሳትም ይጥሉአቸዋል፤ በዚያ ልቅሶና ጥርስ ማፋጨት ይሆናል።

43 በዚያን ጊዜ ጻድቃን በአባታቸው መንግሥት እንደ ፀሐይ ይበራሉ። የሚሰማ ጆሮ ያለው ይስማ።

44 ደግሞ መንግሥተ ሰማያት በእርሻ ውስጥ የተሰወረውን መዝገብ ትመስላለች፤ ሰውም አግኝቶ ሰወረው፥ ከደስታውም የተነሣ ሄዶ ያለውን ሁሉ ሸጠና ያን እርሻ ገዛ።

45 ደግሞ መንግሥተ ሰማያት መልካምን ዕንቁ የሚሻ ነጋዴን ትመስላለች፤

46 ዋጋዋም እጅግ የበዛ አንዲት ዕንቁ በአገኘ ጊዜ ሄዶ ያለውን ሁሉ ሸጠና ገዛት።

47 ደግሞ መንግሥተ ሰማያት ወደ ባሕር የተጣለች ከሁሉም ዓይነት የሰበሰበች መረብን ትመስላለች፤

48 በሞላችም ጊዜ ወደ ወደቡ አወጡአት፥ ተቀምጠውም መልካሙን ለቅመው በዕቃዎች ውስጥ አከማቹ ክፉውን ግን ወደ ውጭ ጣሉት።

49 ዓለም መጨረሻ እንዲሁ ይሆናል፤ መላእክት መጥተው ኃጢአተኞችን ከጻድቃን መካከል ይለዩአቸዋል፥ ወደ እቶነ እሳትም ይጥሉአቸዋል፤

50 በዚያ ልቅሶና ጥርስ ማፋጨት ይሆናል።

51 ኢየሱስም። ይህን ሁሉ አስተዋላችሁን? አላቸው አዎን አሉት።

52 እርሱም። ስለዚህ የመንግሥተ ሰማያት ደቀ መዝሙር የሆነ ጻፊ ሁሉ ከመዝገቡ አዲሱንና አሮጌውን የሚያወጣ ባለቤትን ይመስላል አላቸው።

53 ኢየሱስም እነዚህም ምሳሌዎች ከጨረሰ በኋላ ከዚያ ሄደ።

54 ወደ ገዛ አገሩም መጥቶ እስኪገረሙ ድረስ በምኩራባቸው ያስተምራቸው ነበር፤ እንዲህም አሉ። ይህን ጥበብ ተአምራት ይህ ከወዴት አገኘው?

55 ይህ የጸራቢ ልጅ አይደለምን? እናቱስ ማርያም ትባል የለምን? ወንድሞቹስ ያዕቆብና ዮሳ ስምዖንም ይሁዳም አይደሉምን?

56 እኅቶቹስ ሁሉ በእኛ ዘንድ ያሉ አይደሉምን? እንኪያስ ይህን ሁሉ ከወዴት አገኘው? ተሰናከሉበትም።

57 ኢየሱስ ግን። ነቢይ ከገዛ አገሩና ከገዛ ቤቱ በቀር ሳይከበር አይቀርም አላቸው።

58 በአለማመናቸውም ምክንያት በዚያ ብዙ ተአምራት አላደረገም።

683. Saying, The kingdoms of the world are become our Lord's and His Christ's, signifies all things in the heavens and on earth subject to the Lord, when the evil have been separated from the good, and that then the Divine good and Divine truth proceeding from the Lord are clearly received. This is evident from the signification of "the kingdoms of the world when they have become the Lord's," as being that the Divine proceeding from the Lord is received in love and faith (of which presently); also from the signification of "the Lord and His Christ," as being the Lord in relation to the Divine good of the Divine love, and in relation to the Divine truth proceeding from that love. That the Lord is called "Lord" from Divine good, and "Christ" from Divine truth, will be seen below.

[2] That "the kingdom of the Lord" means the reception of Divine good and Divine truth, thus with those who receive, can be seen from this, that with the angels of heaven and with the men of the church the Lord reigns through that which proceeds from Him, which is commonly called Divine good and Divine truth, likewise justice and judgment, also love and faith. It is through these that the Lord reigns, consequently these are strictly the Lord's kingdom with those who receive them; for when these reign with angels and men then the Lord Himself reigns, for the things that proceed from Him are Himself. The Lord in heaven is no other than the Divine proceeding.

[3] The Lord indeed not only rules those that receive Divine celestial and spiritual things from Him, but also those that do not receive, as all who are in hell; still it cannot be said that the Lord's kingdom is in hell, since those there are altogether unwilling to be ruled by the Divine that proceeds and according to the laws of its order; they even deny the Lord and turn themselves away from Him; yet the Lord does rule them, not like subjects and citizens of His kingdom, but like those who are refractory and rebellious, holding them in bonds that they may not do evil to one another, and especially to those who belong to His kingdom.

[4] That the Lord's kingdom is that which proceeds from Him and is received can be seen from passages in the Word where "the kingdom of God" is mentioned, as in the Lord's Prayer:

Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, as in heaven so also upon the earth (Matthew 6:10).

"Kingdom" evidently means here the reception of Divine good and Divine truth proceeding from the Lord, and in which the Lord is with the angels of heaven and the men of the church, for it is added, "Thy will be done, as in heaven so also upon the earth," and the will of God is done when these are received in heart and soul, that is, in love and faith.

[5] And elsewhere:

Seek ye first the kingdom of the heavens 1 and His righteousness and all things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33).

"The kingdom of the heavens" means in the spiritual sense Divine truth, and "righteousness" Divine good, therefore it is said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of the heavens and His righteousness." But in the highest sense "the kingdom of the heavens" means the Lord, since He is the all of His kingdom, and in the same sense "righteousness" signifies the Lord's merit. And as a man who is ruled by the Lord desires and loves only such things as are of the Lord, he is, unknown to himself, forever led to felicities; and this is why it is said that "all things shall be added to him," meaning that all things that tend to his salvation shall come to pass according to his desire.

[6] Since heaven is heaven from the reception of Divine truth from the Lord, likewise the church, so in a general sense heaven and the church are meant by "the kingdom of God" and "the kingdom of the heavens;" therefore those who receive Divine truth are called by the Lord "sons of the kingdom," in Matthew:

The field is the world, the seed are the sons of the kingdom, the tares are the sons of the evil one (Matthew 13:38).

It is evident that those who receive Divine truth are meant by "the sons of the kingdom," for it is said, "the seed are the sons of the kingdom, and the tares are the sons of the evil one," "seed" meaning Divine truth, and "tares" infernal falsity; such are called "sons" because in the spiritual sense of the Word "sons" signify truths, and in the contrary sense falsities (See above, n. 166).

[7] Moreover, "the kingdom of God" signifies the church in respect to truths from good, and also heaven (as may be seen above, n. 48; and "the kingdom of God" with man signifies to be in truths from good from the Lord, thus in wisdom, and consequently in the power to resist falsities and evils, therefore "to reign" belongs to the Lord alone (See also above, n. 333.

48. And in the kingdom, signifies in the church where truths are. This is evident from the signification of "kingdom" in the Word, as being heaven and the church. It means the church in respect to truth, or where truths are, because by the royalty of the Lord is signified Divine truth proceeding from Him, and therefore by "kings" are signified truths (See what is shown above, n. 31). It is said the church in respect to truth, by which is meant the church in respect to truths from good; and for the reason that there are no truths without good, for truths have their life from good. Truths with a man who is not in good are indeed truths in themselves, but they are not truths in him (as may be seen abundantly shown in The Doctrine of the New Jerusalem, 11-27).

[2] That "kingdom" in the Word signifies heaven and the church in respect to truths, is evident from many passages in the Word, some of which I will cite.

Thus in Matthew:

The sons of the kingdom shall be cast forth into the outer darkness (Matthew 8:12);

the "sons of the kingdom" here are those of the church where truths do not prevail, but falsities.

In the same:

He that heareth the Word of the kingdom, and giveth not heed to it, the evil one cometh, and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the wayside. The field is the world; the seed are the sons of the kingdom (Matthew 13:19, 38).

"To hear the Word of the kingdom" is to hear the truths of the church; and because "seed" signifies truths, they who receive truths are called "sons of the kingdom." (That "seed" is the truth of the church, see Arcana Coelestia 3038, 3373, 3671, 10248, 10249.)

In the same:

Therefore the kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and shall be given to a nation bringing forth fruit (Matthew 21:43).

It is evident that "the kingdom of God" here signifies the church in respect to truths, thus also the truths of the church, from its being said that "it should be taken away from them, and given to a nation bringing forth fruit;" "fruit" is good.

Again in the same:

In the consummation of the age, nation shall be stirred up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom (24:[3], 7).

The consummation of the age" is the last time of the church, "nation against nation" is evil against good, and "kingdom against kingdom" is falsity against truth. (That "nation" is the good of the church, and in the opposite sense the evil there, see Arcana Coelestia 1059, 1159, 1258-1260, 1416, 1849, 6005)

[3] From this it is plain what is meant by "kingdom" in the Lord's prayer:

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so also upon the earth. Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory (Matthew 6:10, 13).

"Thy kingdom come" is a prayer that truth may be received; "Thy will be done," that it may be received by those who do God's will; "Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory," means Divine truth from God alone; it is also said "power and glory," because Divine truth has all power and glory (See above, n. 33). From all this it can be seen what "the kingdom of God" signifies in very many passages in the Word, namely, the church in respect to truths, and also heaven, and in the highest sense the Lord in respect to the Divine Human. "Kingdom," in the highest sense, signifies the Lord in respect to the Divine Human, because from Him all Divine truth proceeds; and "kingdom" signifies heaven, because heaven with the angels is from no other source than from the Divine truth that proceeds from the Lord's Divine Human (See in the work on Heaven and Hell 7-12, 78-86, 126-140).
