That this signifies the first temptation, may be seen from the signification of “fourteen,” or the end of the second week, concerning which, see above (n. 728), where the time of seven days or of one week signifies the beginning of temptation. “Fourteen,” or the term of two weeks, signifies the same. It is here said “in the fourteenth year,” in reference to the twelve years which precede; by which, as before said, is signified the time of childhood.
