If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it.
428. From the statements made in this verse and from those in the next it is quite clear that 'Lamech' means vastation, for he says that he has killed a man and a little one, and that Cain will be avenged sevenfold and Lamech seventy-sevenfold.
