Verse 4. And therefore they also reflect concerning eternal life, discerning that there is no salvation in the corrupted church, on account of the failure of good and truth, and also that they cannot remain in their imperfect state and still be saved. Wherefore they determine to entrust themselves to the orderly application of the exterior knowledges of good, and a state of uncertainty.
