35 And it was, in that◦ night, that the angel of Jehovah went·​·forth and smote in the camp of Assyria, a hundred eighty and five thousand; and they got·​·up·​·early in the morning, and, behold, all of them dead corpses.

Verse 35. But on the contrary, corrupted reason plunges its victims into obscurity as to all truths, and the effect of the Divine presence upon them is that they are totally vastated, and when seen in the light of heaven, are without any spiritual life, or without any good and truth.
