'Parched by the east wind,' as in Genesis 41:6, signifies being full of lust or being consumed by the fire of lust. 'The east wind and the east,' in the genuine sense, denote love to the Lord and love towards the neighbor. In the opposite sense, they denote self-love and the love of the world, and thus evil desires and lusts, because these are the offspring of those loves. 'Fire' relates to these, and as a result, 'parching' is related to them.
