1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz, king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah became·​·king in Samaria, and reigned over Israel nine years.

Verse 1. In that state of the celestial church in which vastation is complete, there arises a new state of the corrupted spiritual church, in which also the extreme of vastation is about to occur.
