Some Things Are Hard To Get Rid Of

Ever feel like you've been fighting the same problems your entire life? And that when you look at your family history, you see that your parents had the same issues, and maybe your grandparents too? I think this is a common thing actually. We pass on more than our physical features to our kids. We pass along tendencies too... and some of these tendencies aren't good. Could be a short temper, or maybe an addictive personality... any number of things really. Well, if it is any comfort, the Bible at least tells us that this will be the case. The Israelites fell into one particular evil that plagued them for generations. It was hard for them to clear this out of their system just as it can be hard for us to stop a persistent personality failing in ourselves. It's been there a long time, and it doesn't go away easy.

26 Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, "Cursed is the man before Yahweh, who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn shall he lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up its gates."
