23 Take·​·heed for yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of Jehovah your God, which He cut with you, and make for yourselves a graven image, the figure of anything◦ concerning which Jehovah thy God has commanded thee.

Verse 23. Let the regenerate take great heed, therefore, of what passes in the soul, lest they forget the conditions on which alone it is possible for the Divine Goodness and Wisdom to conduct them to heaven, namely, by carrying out the Divine will in the life; and lest they worship as the supreme good the false imaginations proceeding from their own evil heart, or any appearance of good or truth in externals, which is contrary to the perception given them of the Divine Goodness and Wisdom.
