1 သင်သည် မှားသော သိတင်းစကားကို မကြားမပြောရ။ မတရားသောသူတို့နှင့် ဝိုင်းညီ၍ မမှန်သော သက်သေကို မခံရ။

2 လူများနောက်သို့ လိုက်၍ မတရားသဖြင့် မပြုရ။ တရားတွေ့သည်အမှုမှာ ကြီးသောသူဘက်၌ နေ၍၊ တရားလမ်းမှ လွဲစေခြင်းငှါ မပြောရ။

3 ဆင်းရဲသောသူဘက်၌လည်း မငဲ့ကွက်ရ။

4 သင်သည် ရန်သူ၏မြင်းနွား လမ်းလွဲသည်ကို တွေ့မြင်လျှင်၊ အမှန်ပြန်ပို့ရမည်။

5 သင့်ကို မုန်းသော သူ၏မြည်းသည်၊ မိမိဆောင်ရွက်သော ဝန်အောက်မှာ လဲနေသည်ကို တွေ့မြင်လျှင်၊ မ မစဘဲ နေနိုင်သလော။ အမှန်ဝိုင်းညီ၍ မစရမည်။

6 သင်၌ ဆင်းရဲသော သူသည် တရားတွေ့သောအခါ၊ သူ့ကို မတရားသဖြင့် မစီရင်ရ။

7 မဟုတ်မမှန်သော အမှုကို ရှောင်ရမည်။ အပြစ်မရှိသောသူ၊ ဖြောင့်မတ်သောသူကို မကွပ်မျက်ရ။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ငါသည် မတရားသော သူကို အပြစ်မလွှတ်။

8 သင်သည် တံစိုးမစားရ။ တံစိုးသည် ပညာရှိတို့၏မျက်စိကို ကွယ်စေ၍၊ ဖြောင့်မတ်သောသူတို့၏ စကားကို လွဲစေတတ်၏။

9 တကျွန်းတနိုင်ငံသားဖြစ်သော ဧည့်သည်ကို မညှဉ်းဆဲရ။ သင်တို့သည် အဲဂုတ္တုပြည်၌ ဧည့်သည်ဖြစ်ခဲ့ ဘူးသောကြောင့်၊ ဧည့်သည်၏စိတ်သဘောကို သိကြ၏။

10 ခြောက်နှစ်ပတ်လုံး လယ်လုပ်၍ အသီးကို သိမ်းရမည်။

11 သတ္တမနှစ်တွင် လယ်ကို မလုပ်ဘဲ အလွတ်ထားရမည်။ သို့ပြုလျှင် ဆင်းရဲသောအမျိုးသားချင်းတို့သည်၊ စားရသောအခွင့် ရှိလိမ့်မည်။ ကြွင်းသောအရာကိုလည်း၊ မြေတိရစ္ဆာန်တို့သည် စားရကြလိမ့်မည်။ ထိုနည်းတူ၊ စပျစ်ဥယျာဉ်သံလွင်ဥယျာဉ်ကိုလည်း ပြုရမည်။

12 ခြောက်ရက်ပတ်လုံး အလုပ်လုပ်ရမည်။ သတ္တမနေ့ရက်၌ ငြိမ်ဝပ်စွာနေရမည်။ သို့ပြုလျှင် သင်၏နွား မြည်းတို့သည် ငြိမ်ဝပ်စွာ နေရသောအခွင့် ရှိလိမ့်မည်။ သင်၏ ငယ်သားများ၊ ဧည့်သည်များတို့လည်း သက်သာရ ကြလိမ့်မည်။

13 ငါပညတ်သမျှတို့၌ သတိပြုကြလော့။ အခြားသောဘုရား၏ နာမကို မမြွက်မဆိုနှင့်။ သင်၏နှုတ်ထဲက မြွက်သံကို သူတပါးမကြားစေနှင့်။

14 တနှစ်တွင် သုံးကြိမ် ငါ့အဘို့ ပွဲခံရမည်။ ငါမှာထားခဲ့ပြီးသည်အတိုင်း၊ အဗိဗလချိန်းချက်သော နေ့ရက်အချိန်၌ အဇုမပွဲကိုခံ၍၊ ခုနစ်ရက် ပတ်လုံး တဆေးမဲ့သောမုန့်ကို စားရမည်။

15 ငါမှာထားခဲ့ပြီးသည်အတိုင်း၊ အဗိဗ ချိန်းချက်သော နေ့က်အချိန၌ အဇုမပွဲကိုခံ၍၊ ခုနစ်ရက်ပတ်ုံး တဆေးမဲ့သော မုန့်ကို စားရမည်။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ထိုတွင် သင်သည် အဲဂုတ္တုပြည်က ထွကာသတည်း။ ထိုပွဲကို ခံစဉ် ငါ့ထံသို့ အဘယ်သူမျှ က်ချည်းမပေါ်မာရ။

16 လယ်လုပ်၍ အသီးအနှံကို သိမ်းစရှိသည်ကာလ၊ သိမ်းပွဲကို၎င်း၊ လယ်လုပ်၍ အသီးအနှံကို သိုထားသည်ကာလ၊ နှစ်လဲသောအခါ၊ သိုထားပွဲကို၎င်း ခံရမည်။

17 သင်တို့တွင် ယောက်ျားအပေါင်းတို့သည်၊ တနှစ်လျှင်သုံးကြိမ် ထာဝရအရှင်ဘုရားသခင့် ရှေ့တော်၌ မျက်နှာပြရကြမည်။

18 ငါ့ယဇ်ကောင်၏ အသွေးကို၊ တဆေးပါသောမုန့်နှင့် ရော၍ မပူဇော်ရ။ ငါ့ယဇ်ကောင် ဆီဥကို နံနက်တိုင်အောင် မကြွင်းစေရ။

19 သင်၏မြေ၌ အဦးသီးသော အသီးအနှံ အကောင်းဆုံးကို၊ သင်၏ဘုရားသခင် ထာဝရဘုရားအိမ်တော်ထဲသို့ ဆောင်သွင်းရမည်။ ဆိတ်သငယ်ကို အမိနို့ရည်နှင့် မပြုတ်မချက်ရ။

20 ကြည့်ရှုလော့။ လမ်းခရီး၌ သင့်ကို စောင့်ရှောက်၍၊ ငါပြင်ဆင်နှင့်သောအရပ်သို့ ပို့စေခြင်းငှာ၊ ကောင်းကင်တမန်ကို သင့်ရှေ့၌ ငါစေလွှတ်၏။

21 ထိုတမန်ကို ရိုသေစွာပြုလော့။ စကားတော်ကို နားထောင်လော့။ အာဏာတော်ကို မဆန်နှင့်။ သင်တို့ပြစ်မှားသောအပြစ်ကို သူသည် မလွှတ်။ ငါ့နာမသည် သူ၌တည်ရှိ၏။

22 အကယ်စင်စစ် သင်သည် သူ့စကားကို နားထောင်၍ ငါပညတ်သမျှအတိုင်းပြုလျှင်၊ သင်၏ ရန်သူတို့ကို ငါသည် ရန်ဘက်ပြုမည်။ သင့်ကို ဆီးတားသောသူတို့ကိုလည်း ငါဆီးတားမည်။

23 ငါ့တမန်သည် သင့်ရှေ့၌သွား၍ သင့်ကို အာမောရိလူ၊ ဟိတ္တိလူ၊ ဖေရဇိလူ၊ ခါနနိလူ၊ ဂိရဂါရှိလူ၊ ဟိဝိလူ၊ ယေဗုသိလူတို့ရှိရာသို့ ဆောင်သွင်း၍၊ သူတို့ကို ပယ်ရှင်းမည်။

24 သူတို့ဘုရားများကို ဦးမချဝတ်မပြုရ။ သူတို့ဘာသာအတိုင်း မကျင့်ရ။ သူတို့ကို အကုန်အစင် မှောက်လှဲ၍၊ ရုပ်တုဆင်းတုများကိုလည်း ရှင်းရှင်းဖြိုဖျက်ရမည်။

25 သင်တို့၏ဘုရားသခင် ထာဝရဘုရားကို ဝတ်ပြုရမည်။ သင်၏မုန့်ကို၎င်း၊ ရေကို၎င်း၊ ကောင်းကြီးပေး တော်မူမည်။ အနာရောဂါကိုလည်း သင်၏အထဲက နှုတ်ယူပယ်ရှားတော်မူမည်။

26 သင်၏ပြည်တွင် ကိုယ်ဝန်ပျက်သော သတ္တဝါ၊ မြုံသောသတ္တဝါနှင့် ကင်းလွတ်လိမ့်မည်။ သင်၏အသက်တန်းကို ငါစုံလင်စေမည်။

27 ငါ့ကိုကြောက်တတ်သော သဘောကို သင့်ရှေ့သို့ ငါစေလွှတ်၍၊ သင်ရောက်လေရာရာအရပ်၌ ခပ်သိမ်းသောလူမျိုးကို ငါဖျက်ဆီးမည်။ သင်၏ရန်သူအပေါင်းတို့ကို နောက်သို့ လှည့်စေမည်။

28 ပျားတူများကိုလည်း သင့်ရှေ့သို့ ငါစေလွှတ်၍၊ သူတို့သည် ဟိဝိလူ၊ ခါနနိလူ၊ ဟိတ္တိလူတို့ကို သင့်ရှေ့မှာ နှင်ထုတ်ကြလိမ့်မည်။

29 ထိုလူများကို တနှစ်ခြင်းတွင် သင့်ရှေ့မှာ ငါမနှင်ထုတ်။ သို့ပြုလျှင် ပြည်သည် လူဆိတ်ညံ၍ သားရဲသည် သင့်တဘက်၌ များပြားလိမ့်မည်။

30 သင်သည် တိုးပွား၍ တပြည်လုံးကို ဝင်စားသည်တိုင်အောင်၊ သူတို့ကို သင့်ရှေ့မှာ ဖြည်းဖြည်းငါနှင် ထုတ်မည်။

31 သင့်နေရာ နယ်အပိုင်းအခြားကို၊ ဧဒုံပင်လယ်မှသည် ဖိလိတ္တိပင်လယ်တိုင်အောင်၎င်း၊ တောမှသည် မြစ်တိုင်အောင်၎င်း ငါမှတ်သားမည်။ ထိုအရပ်သားများကို သင့်လက်သို့ ငါအပ်၍၊ သင်သည် နှင်ထုတ်ရလိမ့် မည်။

32 သူတို့နှင့်၎င်း၊ သူတို့ဘုရားများနှင့်၎င်း၊ သင်သည် မိဿဟာယမဖွဲ့ရ။

33 သင်သည် ငါ့ကို ပြစ်မှားစေခြင်းငှာ၊ သူတို့သည် ပြုမည်ကို စိုးရိမ်စရာရှိသောကြောင့်၊ သူတို့သည် သင့်ပြည်၌ မနေရကြ။ သင်သည် သူတို့ဘုရားကို ဝတ်ပြုလျှင်၊ ထိမိ၍ လဲစရာအကြောင်းအမှန် ဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်ဟု မောရှေအား မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

1925. 'The angel of Jehovah found her' means thought in the interior man, that is to say, thought residing with the Lord. This becomes clear from the representation and meaning of 'the angel of Jehovah'. Mention is made several times in the Word of 'the angel of Jehovah', and in every case when used in the good sense it represents and means some essential quality with the Lord and from the Lord. Which one it represents and means however becomes clear from the train of thought. They were indeed angels who were sent to men and women, and who also spoke through the prophets. Yet what they spoke did not originate in those angels but was something imparted through them. In fact their state at the time was such that they knew no other than that they were Jehovah, that is, the Lord. But as soon as they had finished speaking they returned to their previous state and spoke as they normally did from themselves.

[2] This was the case with the angels who uttered the Word of the Lord, as I have been given to know from much similar experience in the next life, experience that will be presented in the Lord's Divine mercy further on. This is the reason why angels were sometimes called Jehovah, as is quite clear from the angel that appeared in the bramble-bush to Moses, concerning whom the following is recorded,

The angel of Jehovah appeared to Moses in a flame of fire from the middle of the bramble-bush. Jehovah saw that he turned aside to see, and God called to him from the middle of the bramble-bush God said to Moses, I am who I am. And God said again to Moses, Thus shall you say to the children of Israel, Jehovah the God of your fathers has sent me to you. Exodus 3:2, 4, 14-15.

From these verses it is evident that it was an angel who appeared to Moses as a flame in the bramble-bush and that he spoke as Jehovah, because the Lord or Jehovah was speaking through him.

[3] So that man may be spoken to by means of articulated sounds heard in the natural world, the Lord employs angels as His ministers by filling them with the Divine and by rendering unconscious all that is their own, so that for the time being they know no other than that they themselves are Jehovah. In this way the Divine of Jehovah which belongs in highest things comes down into the lowest constituting the natural world in which man sees and hears. It was similar in the case of the angel who spoke to Gideon, of whom the following is said in the Book of Judges,

The angel of Jehovah appeared to Gideon and said to him, Jehovah is with you, O mighty man of strength. And Gideon said to him, Forgive me for asking, 1 O my Lord; why has all this befallen us? And Jehovah looked on him and said, Go in this might of yours. And Jehovah said to him, Surely I will be with you. Judges 6:12-14, 16.

And further on,

Gideon saw that he was the angel of Jehovah, and Gideon said, Alas, Lord Jehovih! Inasmuch as I have seen the angel of Jehovah face to face. 2 And Jehovah said to him, Peace be to you; do not fear. Judges 6:22-23.

Here similarly it was an angel, but his state was such at that time that he knew no other than that he was Jehovah, or the Lord. Elsewhere in the Book of Judges,

The angel of Jehovah went up from Gilgal to Bochim, and he said, I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land which I swore to give to your fathers. I said, I will not break my covenant with you, even for ever. Judges 2:1.

Here similarly the angel speaks in the name of Jehovah, declaring that he brought them out of the land of Egypt, though in fact it was not the angel who led them out but Jehovah, as is stated many times elsewhere.

[4] From this it may become clear how angels spoke through the prophets - that it was the Lord Himself who spoke, yet through angels, and that the angels spoke nothing at all from themselves. That the Word comes from the Lord is clear from many places, as also in Matthew,

To fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin will be with child and give birth to a son. Matthew 1:22-23.

And there are other places besides this. It is because the Lord speaks through angels when He speaks to man that the Lord is also called an angel in various places in the Word. In these instances 'angel' means, as stated, some essential quality residing with the Lord and deriving from Him, as is the case here where it is the Lord's interior thought. This also is the reason why in this chapter the angel is named Jehovah and also God, as in verse 13, 'And Hagar called the name of Jehovah who was speaking to her, You are a God who sees me'.

[5] In other places 'angels' is used in a similar way to mean some specific attribute that is the Lord's, as in John,

The seven stars are the angels of the seven Churches. Revelation 1:20.

There are no angels of Churches, but by 'angels' is meant that which constitutes the Church, and thus which is the Lord's in regard to the Churches. In the same book,

I saw the wall of the Holy Jerusalem, great and high, having twelve gates, and above the gates twelve angels, and names written which are those of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. Revelation 21:12.

Here 'twelve angels' has the same meaning as 'the twelve tribes', namely all things of faith, and so the Lord from whom faith and all that belongs to it is derived. In the same book,

I saw an angel flying in mid-heaven, having an eternal gospel. Revelation 14:6.

Here 'an angel' means the gospel that is the Lord's alone.

[6] In Isaiah,

The angel of His presence 3 saved them; 4 in His love and in His pity He redeemed them, and lifted them up and carried them all the days of eternity. Isaiah 63:9.

Here 'the angel of His presence" is used to mean the Lord's mercy towards the entire human race in redeeming it. Similarly in Jacob's blessing of the sons of Joseph,

May the angel who has redeemed me from every evil bless the boys. Genesis 48:16.

Here also the redemption, which is the Lord's, is meant by 'the angel'. In Malachi,

Suddenly there will come to His temple the Lord whom you are seeking, and the angel of the covenant in whom you delight. Malachi 3:1.

Here it is plainly evident that the Lord is meant by 'the angel'. The expression 'the angel of the covenant' is used here because of His Coming into the world. In Exodus it is plainer still that 'an angel' means the Lord,

Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way, and to bring you to the place which I have prepared. He will not tolerate your transgression, for My name is within him. Exodus 23:20-21.

From this it is now clear that 'an angel' in the Word is used to mean the Lord; but just what aspect of the Lord is evident from the train of thought in the internal sense.

1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people who were with him, rose up early, and encamped beside the spring of Harod: and the camp of Midian was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

2 Yahweh said to Gideon, "The people who are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, 'My own hand has saved me.'

3 Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, 'Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and depart from Mount Gilead.'" Twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.

4 Yahweh said to Gideon, "The people are still too many. Bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. It shall be, that of whom I tell you, 'This shall go with you,' the same shall go with you; and of whoever I tell you, 'This shall not go with you,' the same shall not go."

5 So he brought down the people to the water; and Yahweh said to Gideon, "Everyone who laps of the water with his tongue, like a dog laps, you shall set him by himself; likewise everyone who bows down on his knees to drink."

6 The number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people bowed down on their knees to drink water.

7 Yahweh said to Gideon, "By the three hundred men who lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, each to his own place."

8 So the people took food in their hand, and their trumpets; and he sent all the men of Israel every man to his tent, but retained the three hundred men: and the camp of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

9 It happened the same night, that Yahweh said to him, "Arise, go down into the camp; for I have delivered it into your hand.

10 But if you are afraid to go down, go with Purah your servant down to the camp:

11 and you shall hear what they say; and afterward your hands will be strengthened to go down into the camp." Then went he down with Purah his servant to the outermost part of the armed men who were in the camp.

12 The Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand which is on the seashore for multitude.

13 When Gideon had come, behold, there was a man telling a dream to his fellow; and he said, "Behold, I dreamed a dream; and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian, and came to the tent, and struck it so that it fell, and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat."

14 His fellow answered, "This is nothing other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel. God has delivered Midian into his hand, with all the army."

15 It was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and its interpretation, that he worshiped; and he returned into the camp of Israel, and said, "Arise; for Yahweh has delivered the army of Midian into your hand!"

16 He divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put into the hands of all of them trumpets, and empty pitchers, with torches within the pitchers.

17 He said to them, "Watch me, and do likewise. Behold, when I come to the outermost part of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so you shall do.

18 When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and shout, 'For Yahweh and for Gideon!'"

19 So Gideon, and the hundred men who were with him, came to the outermost part of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch, when they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and broke in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands.

20 The three companies blew the trumpets, and broke the pitchers, and held the torches in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands with which to blow; and they shouted, "The sword of Yahweh and of Gideon!"

21 They stood every man in his place around the camp; and all the army ran; and they shouted, and put [them] to flight.

22 They blew the three hundred trumpets, and Yahweh set every man's sword against his fellow, and against all the army; and the army fled as far as Beth Shittah toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath.

23 The men of Israel were gathered together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after Midian.

24 Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, "Come down against Midian, and take before them the waters, as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan!" So all the men of Ephraim were gathered together, and took the waters as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan.

25 They took the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb; and they killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they killed at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian: and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyond the Jordan.
