9819. 'And they shall make Aaron's garments' means through whom the spiritual kingdom exists. This is clear from the meaning of 'Aaron's garments' as a representative sign of the Lord's spiritual kingdom lying adjacent to His celestial kingdom, dealt with above in 9814. The reason why the wise at heart, filled with the spirit of wisdom, were to make those garments is that by these people those in the celestial kingdom are meant, and the spiritual kingdom is what springs from and so what covers that celestial kingdom like a garment next to the body, as also becomes clear from the things that have been stated in 9818.

567. The whole of that region is called the area of the Church where people who have been instructed in the doctrine of true faith are situated, as the land of Canaan was when the Jewish Church was there, and as Europe is where the Christian Church is today. Lands or regions outside of them are not areas of the Church, or 'the face of the ground'. Where the Church existed prior to the Flood becomes clear also from the lands which were encompassed by the rivers flowing out of the garden of Eden, rivers which are also frequently described in the Word as the boundaries to the land of Canaan. Where it was situated prior to the Flood is also clear from what follows that description, for example, from the reference to the Nephilim being in the land, whose presence then in the land of Canaan is clear from the statement in Numbers 13:33 that the sons of Anak came from the Nephilim.

6964. 'And He said' means providence showing what those who belonged to the spiritual Church were going to be like if they did possess faith. This is clear from the meaning of 'Jehovah said' as providence, as above in 6951. The fact that it was providence showing what they were going to be like if they did possess faith is evident from the things that follow in the narrative. For the restoration of his hand like his [other] flesh means that then spiritual good would reside with them, and this is the opposite of his hand's becoming leprous when he put it into his bosom, which means that the profanation of truth would exist with those who belonged to the spiritual Church if they were not in possession of faith, dealt with above in 6959, 6963.
