¹⁶ Therefore Jehovah, the God of Armies, the Lord, says thus: Wailing shall be in all streets, and they shall say in all the avenues, Alas, alas! And they shall call the farmer to^▵ mourning and wailing, to^▵ those knowing lamentation^◦,

² a day of darkness and of thick·​·darkness, a day of cloud and of dense·​·darkness, as the dawn spread on the mountains; a people, many and numerous; there has not been from eternity as^▵ this^◦, and it shall not again be after it, even·​·to the years of generation and generation.
