Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) fue un científico sueco, ingeniero y filósofo que pasó sus últimas tres décadas escribiendo obras teológicas, tanto en la interpretación bíblica y obras más filosóficas sobre la naturaleza de Dios, la humanidad, la realidad y la vida después de la muerte.

Swedenborg escribió que se le permitió visitar el cielo y el infierno y hablar con la gente de allí, obteniendo una visión del plano espiritual de la existencia. También dijo que lo que él escribió vino directamente del Señor, y que fue revelado a él, para que el Señor pudiera establecer una nueva iglesia en el mundo, para corregir los errores que habían surgido en las iglesias cristianas. A pesar de estas extraordinarias afirmaciones, Swedenborg mismo vivió con humildad, evito hablar en público y se concentro en la publicación de los libros, sin hacer ningún intento de organizar una iglesia.

Swedenborg escribió en Latín, y hay múltiples traducciones al Inglés de la mayor parte de sus obras (así como traducciones en muchas otras lenguas modernas). Si eres nuevo en Swedenborg, aquí hay algunas obras que usted puede ser que considere abordar primero.

“Cielo y el Infierno”. Esto ofrece una visión única y detallada de la vida después de la muerte, con la gente elegiendo el cielo o el infierno basado en las cosas que amaron más love en la vida.

Algunos luchan con su perspectiva masculina, pero otros ven a traves del lenguage del siglo 18 y acogen la visión del matrimonio eterno como la fuente de todo gozo en el cielo.

“Amor y Sabiduría Divina”. Si usted se interesa en ciencia, esto podría tener un definitivo atractivo. La mas filosofica obra de las Escrituras, comienza con la premisa de que el Señor es el amor mismo y traza el impacto de esa idea en la realidad espiritual, la realidad física y la relación de Dios y de la humanidad.

“Providencia Divina”. Este trabajo describe cómo el Señor actúa en nuestras vidas, y nos mantiene en libertad mientras se trabaja constantemente para atraernos hacia el amor y el cielo.

More Search Updates October 24, 2017:

We're making search easier (and more powerful, too but that's another blog post...). If you're reading the Word, in, say, the American Standard translation, and you want to search for a word or phrase in that same translation, there's now a quick search box just above the Next/Previous navigation. Same goes for Swedenborg's works, and for explanations.


Traffic is up! October 23, 2017:

We just topped 140,000 visits for the last 30 days - a new record for us, and a 100% year on year growth rate.


Improved Site Speed October 19, 2017:

Page load times have been cut from a tedious 1.5 seconds in August, to 0.6 seconds in October. We did a bunch of work to optimize data retrieval, and... it's working!


Search Function - Updates! October 6, 2017:

We have been rolling out some search function updates, improving speed, and providing more search and navigation options. The quicksearch function from the main toolbar is back. You might need to clear your browsing history, or close and re-open your browser, if search results aren't showing at first.


No Other Gods October 3, 2017:

Czech User Interface Sept. 11, 2017:

For our Czech-speaking friends..., there's now a Czech user interface on the site! With a Czech UI, the Czech Bible, and 10 of Swedenborg's works translated into Czech, it's a good place to be. newchristianbiblestudy.org/cs

"Writings for Everyone" Aug. 29, 2017:

We're just wrapping up a highly successful translation-importing summer work session. With help from 5 high school and college students, other volunteers, and our core team, we imported 51 more translations of books of the Writings, bringing the total to 233. We're now offering Swedenborg's works online, linked to the Word and to each other, in 17 languages, which are spoken by more than 3.7 billion people.


Summer Import Blitz Aug. 14, 2017:

Over the last three weeks we have imported over 30 new translations of Emanuel Swedenborg's works. We have covered many different works, in a variety of languages, including: Russian, German, Dutch, Czech, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Chinese, and Georgian. Read more about our progress here.


Good News of the Day July 19, 2017:

1. We just imported a Chinese translation of Conjugial Love. That brings the count of Chinese translations to 5! Only 13 more to go.

2. We've had over 1 million visits to the website in the past 12 months! If website traffic continues to grow at the same rate, we'll see 2 million visits in the next 12 months.

Cleanup of Latin TCR March 20, 2017:

We just finished a major cleanup/round-trip of the Latin text of Vera Christiana Religio, or, in English, True Christian Religion (TCR). This was Swedenborg's capstone theological work, and with a clean, exportable Latin foundation, future translators will be able to work much faster.


Dear Google, Please Index... March 13, 2017:

We just created new, bigger, better sitemaps to help Google, Bing and other search engines crawl and index the site. We've submitted more than 17 million distinct pages, now, and we're excluding most of the side-by-side comparison pages.


2 Round-trips for Divine Love March 13, 2017:

We just re-processed two English translations of Swedenborg's drafted-but-not-published work, De Divino Amore (Divine Love). They now have links to Bible verses, cross references, and active footnotes.

What's the Inner Meaning of the Book of Deuteronomy? February 23, 2017:

We've now added chapter and verse-level explanations for the Book of Deuteronomy. These are from a book by Alexander Payne, "A STUDY OF THE INTERNAL OR SPIRITUAL SENSE OF THE FIFTH BOOK OF MOSES CALLED DEUTERONOMY", published in London, in 1881.


Leviticus and Numbers Explained February 17, 2017:

We've just imported chapter and verse-level explanations of the inner meaning of the books of Leviticus and Numbers. These are from two books by Rev. Henry MacLagan, published in London, in 1912 and 1913.
