2402. 'For Jehovah is destroying the city' means that they would inevitably perish. This is clear from the explanation of practically the same words in 2395, 2397.

2394. Verse 13 For we are destroying this place, for their cry has become great before Jehovah; and Jehovah has sent us to destroy it.

'For we are destroying this place' means that the state of evil which was theirs would condemn them. 'For their cry has become great before Jehovah' means because falsity deriving from evil is so extensive. 'And Jehovah has sent us to destroy it' means that they must inevitably perish.
