1191. 'This is that great city' means that those matters of doctrine prevailed more and more. This is clear from the meaning of 'a city' as true doctrine or false doctrine, as was shown in 402, and from its being called 'a great city' because all falsity of doctrine, and of worship arising out of this, leads to falsity of life.
