73. 2. From the Prophets
The day of Jehovah of Hosts shall be upon everyone that is proud and haughty. In that day shall a man cast away his idols; when He arises to terrify the earth (Isaiah 2:12-21). Concerning the Last Judgment.
Jehovah of Hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in justice (Isaiah 5:16-17). In the first part desolation is treated of (verses 3-15), afterwards the curse upon the evil (verses 18-30).
When thou shalt be visited of Jehovah God with thunder and with earthquake, and a great voice, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire (Isaiah 29:6).
It is called a day of vengeance (Isaiah 61:2).
Of the Lord's battle with the hells and of their subjugation, and thus of the redemption of the faithful (Isaiah 63:1-14).
As an east wind will I scatter them; I will regard them from the back and not from the face in the day of their calamity (Jeremiah 18:17).
They have been driven before thee; in the time of thine anger deal with them (Jeremiah 18:23).
