⁵ And the LORD said to Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel: and thy rod, with which thou smotest the river, take in thy hand, and Go.

Pit, or well, that can hold no water

'A pit,' or 'well which has no water,' as in Jeremiah 2:13, signifies doctrines which have no truths.
