¹ And Jehovah said to^▵ Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh; for by a firm hand shall he send· them ·away, and by a firm hand shall he drive· them ·out of his land.

² And God spoke to Moses, and said to him, I am Jehovah.

³ And was seen by Abraham, by Isaac, and by Jacob, in God Shaddai; and by my name Jehovah I was· not ·known to them^*.

⁴ And I also raised·​·up My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their sojournings, in which they sojourned.

⁵ And I have also heard the groaning of the sons of Israel, whom the Egyptians make to serve; and I have remembered My covenant.

⁶ Therefore say to the sons of Israel, I^◦ am Jehovah, and I will cause you to go·​·out from under the burdens^◦ of the Egyptians, and I will rescue you from their servitude; and I will redeem you with a stretched·​·out arm, and with great judgments.

⁷ And I will take you to Me for a people, and I will be to you for God, and you shall·​·know that I am Jehovah your God, who leads you out from under the burdens^◦ of Egypt.

⁸ And I will bring you to the land where I lifted up my hand to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am Jehovah.

⁹ And Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel; and they heard not Moses for distress of spirit, and for hard service.

¹⁰ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

¹¹ Come, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and let him send the sons of Israel out of his land.

¹² And Moses spoke before Jehovah, saying, Behold the sons of Israel have not hearkened to^▵ me; and how^◦ shall Pharaoh hearken to^▵ me, and I^◦ uncircumcised of lips?

¹³ And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and gave them a command to the sons of Israel, and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to lead out the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁴ These are the heads of their fathers’ houses: the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Enoch and Pallu, Chezron and Carmi; these are the families of Reuben.

¹⁵ And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman; these are the families of Simeon.

¹⁶ And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their births; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari; and the years of the life of Levi were seven and thirty and a hundred years.

¹⁷ The sons of Gershon; Libni and Shimei, according to their families.

¹⁸ And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izehar, and Hebron, and Uzziel; and the years of the life of Kohath were three and thirty and a hundred years.

¹⁹ And the sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of Levi according to their births.

²⁰ And Amram took Jochebed his aunt to him for a woman; and she gave·​·birth for him to Aaron and Moses; and the years of the life of Amram were seven and thirty and a hundred years.

²¹ And the sons of Izehar: Korah and Nepheg, and Zichri.

²² And the sons of Uzziel: Mishael and Elzaphan, and Sithri.

²³ And Aaron took him Elisheba, the daughter of Aminadab, the sister of Nahshon, for a woman; and for him she gave·​·birth to Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

²⁴ And the sons of Korah: Assir and Elkanah, and Abiasaph; these are the families of the Korahites.

²⁵ And Eleazar the son of Aaron took to himself from the daughters of Putiel to himself for a woman; and for him she gave·​·birth to Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers of the Levites for their families.

²⁶ This^◦ is the Aaron and Moses to whom Jehovah said, bring·​·out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.

²⁷ These are those who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to lead out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt. This is the Moses and Aaron.

²⁸ And it was, in the day that Jehovah spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt,

²⁹ and Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, I am Jehovah; speak thou to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I speak to thee.

³⁰ And Moses said before Jehovah, Behold I am uncircumcised in lips, and how^◦ shall Pharaoh hear me?

¹ And Moses called to^▵ all Israel, and said to^▵ them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I^▵ speak in your ears today, that you may learn them, and keep to do them.

² Jehovah our God cut a covenant with us in Horeb.

³ Jehovah cut not this covenant with^◦ our fathers, but^◦ with^◦ us, even us^◦, these here, all of us living today.

⁴ Jehovah spoke with you face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire

⁵ (I^▵ stood between Jehovah and you at that^◦ time, to tell you the word of Jehovah; for you were fearful in the face of the fire, and went· not ·up into the mountain), saying,

⁶ I^▵ am Jehovah thy God, who brought· thee ·out of the land of Egypt, out·​·of the house of servitude^*.

⁷ Thou shalt have^◦ no^◦ other gods before My faces.

⁸ Thou shalt not make to thee a graven image, any figure of what is in the heavens above, or what is in the earth beneath, or what is in the waters beneath the earth;

⁹ thou shalt not bow·​·down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I^▵, Jehovah thy God, am a jealous God^◦, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the sons, and on the third and on the fourth generation^* of those who hate Me,

¹⁰ and doing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

¹¹ Thou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold· him ·innocent who takes His name in vain.

¹² Observe^▵ the Sabbath day to keep· it ·holy, as^◦ Jehovah thy God has commanded thee.

¹³ Six days thou shalt serve, and do all thy work^▵*;

¹⁴ but the seventh day is the Sabbath of Jehovah thy God; thou shalt not do any work^▵, thou^◦, nor^◦ thy son, nor^◦ thy daughter, nor^◦ thy servant, nor^◦ thy maidservant, nor^◦ thine ox, nor^◦ thine donkey, nor^◦ any beast of thine, nor^◦ thy sojourner who is in thy gates; so·​·that thy servant and thy maidservant may rest as^▵ well as thou.

¹⁵ And thou shalt remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that Jehovah thy God brought· thee ·out thence by a firm hand and by a stretched·​·out arm; therefore Jehovah thy God commanded thee to do the Sabbath day.

¹⁶ Honor^◦ thy father and thy mother, as Jehovah thy God has commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may be·​·well with thee, upon the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee.

¹⁷ Thou shalt not murder.

¹⁸ And thou shalt not commit·​·adultery.

¹⁹ And thou shalt not steal.

²⁰ And thou shalt not answer against^◦ thy neighbor^▵ as a vain witness^*.

^{21 18} And thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s^▵ wife, and thou shalt not lust·​·after thy neighbor’s^▵ house, his field, or^◦ his servant, or^◦ his maidservant, his ox, or^◦ his donkey, or^◦ any thing that is thy neighbor’s^▵.

^{22 19} These words Jehovah spoke to all your assembly in the mountain from the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the dense·​·darkness, with a great voice; and He added not. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone, and gave them to^▵ me.

^{23 20} And it was, when you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness (for the mountain did burn with fire), that you came·​·near to me, even all the heads of your tribes^◦, and your elders;

^{24 21} and you said, Behold, Jehovah our God has showed us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire; this day we have seen that God speaks with^◦ man, and he lives.

^{25 22} And now why should we die? for this great fire will devour us; if we^◦ again hear the voice of Jehovah our God, then we shall die.

^{26 23} For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

^{27 24} Come· thou ·near, and hear all that Jehovah our God shall say; and speak thou to us all that Jehovah our God shall speak to thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

^{28 25} And Jehovah heard the voice of your words, when you spoke to me; and Jehovah said to me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken to thee; they have well said all that they have spoken.

^{29 26} O that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear Me, and keep all My commandments all the days, that it might be well with them, and with their sons for eternity!

^{30 27} Go say to them, Return into your tents.

^{31 28} But as for thee, stand here with·​·Me, and I will speak to^▵ thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I^▵ give to them to possess it.

^{32 29} And you shall take·​·heed to do as^◦ Jehovah your God has commanded you; you shall not turn·​·aside, right or^◦ left.

^{33 30} You shall walk^◦ in all the ways which Jehovah your God has commanded you, so·​·that you may live, and that it may be·​·well for you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.
