6 And with◦ the cities which you shall give to the Levites there shall be six cities of refuge, which you shall give that the manslayer* may flee thither; and above them you shall give forty and two cities.

Verse 6. And also, in the doctrines and truths which are the receptacles of charity there must be a full provision against the consequences of evil committed unconsciously, when evil has been done to another without any evil intention; and besides this, the receptacles with the man of the church for charity are to be acquired and appropriated through victory in temptation, culminating in a state of holiness.
