10674. 'For I will drive out the nations from [before] your face' means shifting evil and the falsities of evil away. This is clear from the meaning of 'driving out', when used in reference to the evils and falsities that reside with a person, as shifting them away, for evils and falsities are not driven out of a person but are shifted away 1 , see in the places referred to in 10057(end); and from the meaning of 'the nations' who were in the land of Canaan as evils and the falsities of evil, dealt with in the places referred to in 9327.
