Deuteronomy 15:9

9 Beware that there not be a base thought in your heart, saying, "The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand;" and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cry to Yahweh against you, and it be sin to you.

Commentarius in hunc versum

Verse 9. Beware lest you cherish the thought arising from the evil unregenerate heart, saying, it is most certain that in a holy celestial state everything good is perceived to come from the Lord; and your understanding regard as evil the humble strivings after good in the soul, and you in no way endeavour to satisfy them; and thus the good impulses from the Lord be rejected within you, and thus you open your soul to evil.
