Ezekiel 29

1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, in the twelfth day of the month, the word of Jehovah was unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him, and against all Egypt:

3 speak, and say, Thus says the Lord Jehovih*; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great whale* couching in the midst of his rivers, which has said, My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.

4 But I will put hooks in thy cheeks, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick onto thy scales, and I will bring· thee ·up from the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick on thy scales.

5 And I will abandon thee toward the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers; thou shalt fall upon the face of the fields; thou shalt not be gathered, nor brought··together: I have given thee for food to the animal of the land and to the fowl of the heavens.

6 And all they who dwell··in Egypt shall know that I am Jehovah, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

7 When they laid··hold upon thee by the palm of thy hand, thou didst fracture and rip··open all their shoulder; and when they leaned on thee, thou didst break, and madest all their loins to stand still.

8 Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovih; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut··off man and beast out··of thee.

9 And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am Jehovah; because he has said, The river is mine, and I have made it.

10 Therefore, behold, I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will put the land of Egypt for waste places of a waste and desolation, from the tower of Sevene and even··to the border of Cush.

11 Not a foot of man shall pass··through her, and a foot of a beast shall not pass··through her, neither shall it be dwelt··in forty years.

12 And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the lands that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid··waste shall be desolate forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them in the lands.

13 But thus says the Lord Jehovih; At the end of forty years will I bring··together the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:

14 and I will return the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their negotiations; and they shall be there a lowly kingdom.

15 It shall be the lowest of the kingdoms; neither shall it lift itself any··more over the nations; and I will make them to be··few, that they shall not have··dominion among the nations.

16 And it shall be no more the trust of the house of Israel, which brings· their iniquity ·to··remembrance, when they shall turn after them; but they shall know that I am the Lord Jehovih.

17 And it was, in the seven and twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of Jehovah was unto me, saying,

18 Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made his host serve a great service to Tyre; every head was made··bald, and every shoulder was plucked: but there was not wages for him and for his host, from Tyre, for the service that he had served upon her:

19 therefore thus says the Lord Jehovih; Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall carry away her crowd, and spoil her for spoil, and plunder her for plunder; and it shall be the wages for his host.

20 I have given to him the land of Egypt for his work with which he served against it, in that they did for Me, says the Lord Jehovih.

21 In that day will I cause the horn to grow for the house of Israel, and I will give to thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

254. "For You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created." This symbolically means that everything in heaven and the church has been created and formed out of the Lord's Divine love by His Divine wisdom, or out of Divine good by Divine truth, which is also the Word, and that so likewise are people reformed and reborn.

This is the spiritual meaning of this statement, because creating symbolically means to reform and regenerate by Divine truth, and the Lord's will symbolizes Divine good.

Whether one says Divine good and truth or Divine love and wisdom, the meaning is the same, as all good is connected with love, and all truth with wisdom.

In Angelic Wisdom Regarding Divine Love and Wisdom we showed many times that everything in heaven and the church spring from Divine love and wisdom, in fact that the world was created out of them; and we showed too that love and good are connected with the will, and wisdom and truth with the intellect. Thus it is apparent that the Lord's will means His Divine good or love.

[2] That to create in the Word means to reform and regenerate is apparent from the following passages:

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalms 51:10)

You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good... You send forth Your Spirit, they are created. (Psalms 104:28, 30)

...a people yet to be created will praise Jah. (Psalms 102:18)

...behold, I am creating a new heaven and a new earth... ...rejoice forever in what I am creating; ...behold, I shall create Jerusalem an exultation... (Isaiah 65:17-18)

...Jehovah, who created the heavens..., who spread forth the earth..., who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it. (Isaiah 42:5, cf. 45:12, 45:18)

...thus says Jehovah, your Creator, O Jacob, and your Former, O Israel: ...I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name... Everyone who is called by My name, for My glory I have created him. (Isaiah 43:1, 7)

On the day that you were created they were prepared... You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till perversity was found in you. (Ezekiel 28:13, 15)

The latter is said of the King of Tyre, who symbolizes people who possess intelligence through Divine truth.

...that they may see and know, and consider and understand..., that the hand of Jehovah has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it. (Isaiah 41:19-20)
