7908. 'Whether a sojourner or a native of the land' means someone belonging to the Church, whether he was not born in it or was born in it. This is clear from the meaning of 'a sojourner' as one who receives instruction in the Church's truths and forms of good and accepts them, dealt with in 1467, 4444, thus one who was not born within the Church but nevertheless joins it; and from the meaning of 'a native of the land' as one who was born within the Church.
