Luke 7:24-28 : The Kingdom of God

Study

24 And when the messengers of John had departed, he began to speak to the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

25 But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they who are gorgeously appareled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.

26 But what went ye out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet.

27 This is he, concerning whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.

28 For I say to you, Among those that are born of women, there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater than he.

This 3rd and final installment of "Ideal vs. Real" covers the afterlife. God tells us that if we can stick to the ideals we'll have an eternity of indescribable joy. However, even if we're just a decent person, we can still live in a lower heaven... which is still beyond our comprehension.

33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says Yahweh: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:

34 and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Yahweh; for they shall all Know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says Yahweh: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.
