Values

The ethical level of life is where we figure out what's right and what's wrong, and what's important and what's not. Ethics, values - these are part of our spiritual life. Where do we want to look when we're developing them? Ultimately, there are two sources of values, or maybe, in a sense, just one: God. Or not God. If we look to wise people, that's worthwhile, since if they're truly wise, they are sourcing their wisdom from the Lord. If we look to smart people -- it's really unreliable. There are plenty of clever people who are selfish, proud, ruthless, and dominating -- essentially worshipping themselves.

As we are reformed and regenerated, we'll see more and more that our personal values should flow into us from the Lord, and that our related decisions and actions are powered by Him. For values, go with God.
