1
Why do the nations fume,
and the peoples◦ meditate··on emptiness?
2
The kings of the earth stood··forth, and the rulers◦ consulted together,
against Jehovah, and against His anointed.
3
Let us pull··off their bonds,
and cast··away from us their ropes.
4
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
the Lord shall hold· them ·in··derision.
5
Then▵ He shall speak to▵ them in His anger,
and in His fierceness vex them.
6
But I◦ have anointed▵* My king
upon Zion, the mountain of My holiness.
7
I will tell··of the statute; Jehovah has said to▵ me,
Thou◦ art My Son; today I◦ have begotten Thee.
8
Ask of Me, and I will give the nations for Thine inheritance,
and for Thy possession◦ the ends◦ of the earth.
9
Thou shalt break· them ·up with a scepter of iron;
as a vessel of a potter Thou shalt scatter them.
10
And now, O ye kings, have··intelligence;
be instructed◦, ye judges of the earth.
11
Serve Jehovah with fear,
and rejoice with quivering.
12
Kiss the Son◦, lest He be··angry,
and you perish in the way,
for His anger will burn for··but◦ a··little.
Happy are all they who confide in Him.
