The word of Jehovah that was to▵ Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah▵, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

The beginning of the speaking of Jehovah by Hosea: And Jehovah said to▵ Hosea, Go, take for thee a wife of harlotries and children of harlotries; for the land committing··harlotry has committed··harlotry, departing from after Jehovah.

And he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim, who conceived and gave··birth··to a son for him.

And Jehovah said to▵ him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a··little while, and I will visit on the house of Jehu the blood of Jezreel, and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease.

And it shall be in that◦ day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.

And she conceived yet again, and gave··birth··to a daughter. And He said to him, Call her name Lo-ruchamah*, for I will not again still have··compassion··on the house of Israel, that lifting I should lift it away for them.

But I will have··compassion··on the house of Judah, and will save them by Jehovah their God, and I will not save them by bow, and by sword, and by battle, by horses, and by horsemen.

And she weaned Lo-ruchamah, and she conceived, and gave··birth··to a son.

And He said, Call his name Lo-ammi*; for you◦ are not My people, and I▵ will not be your God.

2:1 But the number of the sons of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall be, that in the place where▵ it was said to them◦, You◦ are not My people, there it shall be said to them◦, You are the sons of the living God◦.

2:2 And the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel shall be brought··together as··one, and set themselves one head, and they shall come··up out··of the land; for great shall be the day of Jezreel.
