Conscience...

Conscience means 'with knowing'. As we learn truths, we learn to know what's right, and what's wrong. When we try to live well, combined with knowing how, we're acting according to our conscience. When we live badly, acting against what we know to be right or good, we get 'pangs of conscience', which can prompt us to do better.

How do you develop your conscience? Practice, practice, practice. First, you really try to learn and discern what's true -- to sift ideas, examine them, and fit them into a lattice-work of truths in your mind. Then, you look at the things you want to do, and weigh them against what you know to be truly good behavior. And you try to do the good ones, and shun the bad ones. As you cycle through that process, you build a strong conscience.
