16 then it shall be, in the day that he causeth his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved the first-born before the son of the hated, who is the first-born:

Verse 16. Then it shall be that when the soul in the course of regeneration begins to acquire goods and truths by means of the principles derived from these affections, those principles derived from the affection of the natural disposition, and which are therefore agreeable to the will, must not be put before those derived from the affection distasteful to the will, if the latter are perceived to be the real essential principles of life derived from heaven:
