Psalms 71

1 In Thee, O Jehovah, do I confide;
let me not be ashamed to eternity.

2 In Thy justice, rescue me and deliver me;
incline Thine ear to me, and save me.

3 Be to me for a rock,
an abode, to come··into continually;
Thou hast commanded to save me;
for my rock and my Bulwark art Thou.

4 O my God, deliver me from the hand of the wicked,
from the palm of the hand of him who is··perverse and fermenting.

5 For Thou art my hope, O Lord Jehovih*;
my trust from my youth.

6 Upon Thee I have been supported from the belly;
Thou art He who brought· me ·out from my mother’s bowels;
my praise shall be continually in Thee.

7 I am as a miracle to many;
but Thou art to me a protection of strength.

8 My mouth shall··be··filled with Thy praise,
with Thine adornment all the day.

9 Cast· me not ·away in the time of old··age;
forsake me not as my power is··all··consumed.

10 For my enemies talk concerning me;
and they who keep··watch··for my soul take··counsel together;

11 saying, God has forsaken him;
pursue and catch him; for there is none to rescue.

12 O God, be· not ·far from me;
O my God, hurry to my help.

13 Let them be··ashamed, let them be all··consumed, who oppose my soul;
let them be cloaked with reproach and humiliation who seek evil for me.

14 But I will hope continually,
and I will add to all Thy praise.

15 My mouth shall recount Thy justice, Thy salvation all the day;
for I know not the numbers thereof.

16 I will come··in the might of the Lord Jehovih;
I will make··mention of Thy justice, Thine alone.

17 O God, Thou hast taught me from my youth;
and even now I have told of Thy wonders.

18 And, even to old··age and gray··hairs, O God, forsake me not;
until I have told of Thine arm to a generation, of Thy might to everyone who is to come,

19 and Thy justice, O God, even··to the height;
Thou, who hast done great things, O God, who is like··to Thee?

20 Thou, who hast made me to see many and evil adversities,
Thou wilt return, Thou wilt make me live;
And from the abysses of the earth, Thou wilt return, Thou wilt make me come··up.

21 Thou wilt multiply my greatness.
And Thou wilt surround, Thou wilt comfort me.

22 I will also confess Thee with the instrument of a psaltery, Thy truth, O my God;
I will sing··psalms to Thee with the harp, O Holy··One of Israel.

23 My lips shall sing··aloud, when I sing··psalms to Thee;
and my soul which Thou hast ransomed.

24 My tongue also shall meditate··on Thy justice all the day;
for they are made to blush, for they are··ashamed, who seek evil for me.
