Psalms 56

Étudier

1 To the victor, on jonath-elem-rechokim*; a michtam* of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.
2 Be··gracious··to me, O God, for man would gulp· me ·down;
fighting all the day, he presses··against me.

2 3 My foes would gulp· me ·down all the day;
for many fight against me on··high.

3 4 The day when I fear,
I will trust in Thee.

4 5 In God, I will praise His Word;
in God I trust, I will not fear.
What can flesh do to me?

5 6 All the day they wrest my words;
all their thoughts are against me for evil.

6 7 They league··together, they secretly··hide, they keep··watch··on my heels,
even as they have waited··for my soul.

7 8 Shall they be delivered on··account··of iniquity?
In anger, bring··down the peoples, O God.

8 9 Thou recountest my fleeing··away.
Set Thou my tears in Thy bottle;
are they not in Thy book?

9 10 Then shall my enemies return back in the day that I call;
this I know, that God is for me.

10 11 In God will I praise the Word;
in Jehovah will I praise the Word.

11 12 In God I trust; I will not fear.
What can man do to me?

12 13 Thy vows are upon me, O God;
I will repay confessions to Thee.

13 14 For Thou hast rescued my soul from death;
and wilt Thou not rescue my feet from tripping,
that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
